Mengabah high. You can exceed what you think you are capable of.

Saya mengabah kembali lagi ke Bali tahun 2005. (I aim to return again to Bali in 2005.)

G’Day Nick,

Using the word ‘Abah’ with regards to achieving something is debatable. It is generally in the classification of ‘to go to…’ or ‘to head for…’ as in a direction. Similar to ‘menuju’, whereas the word for ‘direction’ is ‘arah’.

Garbi,

I would be more inclined to keep it in the simplistic form as follows:

‘Saya harap untuk kembali ke Bali dalam tahun 2005′.

Anyway folks, just adding my thoughts on the word. Please correct me if you reckon I’m wrong!.

Oh, did I inspire this Nick?

Also, “satu arah” means “one way”.
(Most streets in Kuta are one way.)

Nick !

Abah also means father in Betawi (native Jakarta people) language.

Is that balinese word you mention previuosly ?

Salam manis

so if “abah” is to aim for direction then you must expect a “macet turus”
(traffic jam) maybe you could tell us the words for having patience nick or “no road rage” dont forget to give a courteous “toot” of the horn….

Thanks again Barrie for the refinement. I wondered about the proper use in that sentence after posting it, since it was a new word for me too! Guess we’re all learning together. :-)
