Then, what does “anggrek bulan” mean. If anggrek means orchid, and bulan means either moon or month, would it be “orchid of the month”, or “orchid of the moon”. It seems to me it doesn’t make much sense.

That’s the name of an Indonesian song.

If someone has the answer, please let me know.

G’Day Hermann,

I know the song and it’s one of my favourites.
It is a literal translation: ‘Blooming moon’

Thanx, Barrie.

I have a doubt, though. Why would “anggrek” be blooming, while I can’t find that translation anywhere. All I find is “orchid”.

It’s one of my favourite Indonesian songs, too, although I cannot figure out most of what it says. Do you have the lyrics, and its traslation?

Thanx again.

Hi Hermann,

No I don’t have the lyrics but I did at one time. It’s a beautiful song and I will try and track down the lyrics for you. Perhaps one of my lecturers has a copy. No promises though.

Actually for those learning Bahasa Indonesia, listening to Indo songs is great.

Hey, Barrie!

I’m studying hard Bahasa Indonesia, and what helps me is listening to Indonesian songs. You’re right, they help a lot.

Hope you get those lyrics. I’ve got some, if you ever want them, I can e-mail them to you.

See you!
