Temple night at Tanjung Benoa Bali

Drinks over and auf weidersehen’s said, another exploration was underway. Riding down the hill and coming to the Main Gate area I rode up to Tanjung Benoa, the point. Tanjung Benoa is a local fishing village and in the evening its dead. There is a nice little temple right there at the crossroads, and I could hear a female voice conducting a ceremony.

Peeping over the wall I could see several older Balinese people, probably the pemangku (temple priest) and his wife, plus others, taking part in prayer as well as playing musical instruments. They saw me but didn’t seem to mind. One of the greatest parts of living in Bali is hearing the temple ceremonies, especially on a quiet night.
