It has come to light that convicted Bali nine member Scott Rush is actually getting paid during his stint in a jail in Bali. So its a case of doing time and getting assistance whilst doing it.
Under the taxpayer-funded loan scheme the money is to help him cope with prison life. The money, courtesy of a fund run by the Australian Government, pays for Rush's day-to-day expenses while he serves a life term in an Indonesian jail.
Scott Rush's father Lee Rush has said his son was receiving $125 a month from the Federal Government to augment $340 a month that he was providing to feed and clothe his son in jail.
Under the scheme, a loan can be arranged if a prisoner is destitute and adequate facilities such as bedding, clothing and soap are not provided by the overseas prison. The rules say the prisoner must be unable to organise a loan from family and friends. Loans must be repaid after the detainee is released from prison and they cannot be used to cover legal costs or bail.
So what about Schapelle Corby?. Is she getting a bit of the Oz Dollar?. That would be interesting to know.

I hate to think that my hard earned dollars are supporting losers …
It is only a loan and if they were in Australia it would cost the tax payer alot more dollars. I don’t see what the big deal is. The prison in Bali provides nothing at all to the prisoners so to survive they need money.
thought corby was making her money the local way…Indonesian Rupiah…
