Taking Jevon up the Yeh Mempeh waterfall

Some ways along a local appeared behind us and I was suspecting he would trail us and try to be our guide. Soon after we saw a large piece of the drainage canal had fallen into the stream, the wooden bridge I has used in previous visits has also collapsed. Our new Balinese friend showed us the way up the steep hillside, but Ika got scared halfway, the sheer drop and the fact that she was carrying Jevon, enough to make her ask me to turn around.

We re-routed and took a much harder way, climbing over boulders and criss-crossing the stream. I was wearing canvas shoes but didn’t really mind getting them wet as long as we could get to the waterfall. Finally rejoining the cement path we walked another 1 minutes and arrived. The waterfall was really pouring and the spray came our way. We were all sweating and a dip seemed a great idea. However our Balinese friend said ‘tidak boleh’ (not possible) because of many stones that wash over the falls.
