Swimming pool at Seraya Shores in East Bali.

seraya_pool_bali_051105.jpgSeraya Shores is located out in East Bali on the coast close to Ujung. I like going there because of the scenery and tranquility. It has been several months and there have been some improvements. The south coast of Bali is great for surfing but not the best for swimming, waves and currents. Seraya Shores has built a lovely pool that is just several meters from the ocean. On a sunny afternoon there is nothing better than taking a relaxing swim in the pool, then sitting under one of the bales and enjoying the crashing waves. Well there is, but I cannot write about that in the blog.

Seraya Shores has also added a stone pathway made from stones found along the beach. When Gunung Agung exploded in 1963 it was kind enough to spray stones of similar size, the ocean shaped them over the next 40 years. The far east coast of Bali does have some good snorkeling and scuba diving. There are some very decent smaller boutique hotels and you can easily escape the tourist crowds.

Every time I take a trip out to East Bali or to the mountains I say to myself I must do this more often.

G’Day Nick,

Brings back memories of staying at a beautiful place. The pool looks fantastic. I would never have believed ‘that’ would emerge from just a hole in the ground.!

NICK Must check out Seraya Shores in October. How far is it from UJUNG WATER PALACE or the little shop on the corner after the Water Palace where the road swings around to Seraya?

I am going back to Bali in September. Based on your glowing recommendations here I want to stay at Seraya Shores. For more than two weeks I have been sending them e-mails –but get no reply. Is there a secret code??
