Monday morning we are cleaning up the mess from the night before here in Seminyak. The Support Bali BBQ was a roaring success with maybe 35 people showing up over the course of the evening. An hour before people started to arrive I already had the grill going cooking potatoes and corn. Was I overdoing it, I wondered? Cooking like crazy and not knowing if many people were coming might backfire. As it turned out it was the right move. Palu, Wiwin and their daughter Lovia were the first arrivals followed by a steady stream of others, who are too many to name individually. Barrie came along with Candika, his mum Yvonne and his niece Debbie. We had people from Germany, Italy, Australia, Oklahoma (almost qualifies as its own country), Scotland, Japan, England and Indonesians people from Sumatra, Java, Bali, Timor, Lombok.
The charcoal performed well and it feels like Ace Hardware is playing a game with me. Every time I get used to a certain type, they change brands. The range is extreme and their latest offering is a 6 inch diameter block that goes for about 9,000rp. The thing is made in China and burns quite well. I used one of those plus the regular brickets made in Mexico. Halfway way through the evening Barrie assisted me in raising the grill and loading a few more in. We handled everything well and there was a steady stream of meat coming off and I think everyone was well fed. One of the funny aspects of the evening was getting people to the house. I told people to wait at Santa Fe or Warung Mimpi on Jl. Dhyana Pura, and then sent someone to get them. Palu did 2 runs, Auntie Daisy did one and so did Ningrum.

well l to had my own bbq last night but my thoughts were with you guys and bali, and so wished that l could have been there. l read baliblog everyday and dream, can`t wait to come back to paradise next april.
