Sunday afternoon in Kuta was lovely and I was scurrying around trying to book an airline ticket for Thailand for the 23rd. Garuda is fully booked and I looked for other options.
In my movements I somehow managed to mislay my cell phone which is annoying. I called my number and it was busy, then I got a mailbox message.
Anyway after accessing my options I decided to deal with it and not let depression set in. I went for a walk along Jalan Pantai Kuta after dark and saw a Balinese dance group assembled out Mina restaurant. They have been hired to entertain customers and made an eyecatching sight.
Mina is located between Poppies II and Jalan Benesari. Heading to Benesari it gets quite dark and shady on one side of the street and I was aggressively approached by 2 young guys to buy a hat and motrorbike rental. Both were pulling and shoving simultaneously and for a moment I thought this was a prelude to something else. Wasn’t really too worried about dealing with both of them but when they followed me I was worried that maybe a knife might be in play.
Anyway I kept walking ( I actually had to violently zig zag to get these guy to let go of me ) and strooled around to Benedari where I ran into my French friend Oliver who has returned from the coast. Guess what! The ’secret beach’ that I showed you isn’t ‘The Secret Beach’ . There’s another one much harder to get to. Ahaa…excitment!
I heard there was a soccer game on and some customers at Internet Outpost were heading to Stadium Cafe to watch it. When I arrived at 8.40pm the place was packed with European and Asian tourists. It cool how sports are cross cultural and some of these folks support the same teams.
The game was the Community Shield between Arsenal and Man U, not a bad matching for a Sunday night.
The game was intense with both teams fired up. Arsenal had one player sent off and could of had another if the ref wasn’t in a good mood.
My friend Yumi was working and had the France away shirt with ‘Henry’ on the back. That’s the routine at Stadium and everyone has their own player.
I asked her to keep calling my number and tell the person on the other end to give my phone back.
I ended up sitting with Nely from Timor and her boyfriend from England.
Man U won on penalties. Great game and very fun atmosphere.

Aloha Nick,
I read on http://www.balidiscovery.com that Paddy’s reopened.
Got any info on that for us?
Mahalo!

Pires is soft, Nick. The Arsenal would do well to get rid of him before he becomes a liability.
Paddy’s did re-open but not in its original location. Its now on the street in front of Bounty Ship.
I’m not much of a fan of that area. Its okay for a week if you’re over with 6 mates but seriously who wants to take a date there?
Chris I thought Pires did bot look confident at all on the lead up to that penalty. If you’re gonna miss at least do it at 500mph, not weakly. Great game though!
