Sunday afternoon in Kuta Bali

Sunday afternoon means I am in Internet Outpost in Kuta trying to sort out my posts and tidy up entries.

In the last 2 months we have added 2 new sections, Photo of the day and Word of the day.

We also are adding maps all the time to help you gather where the heck we’re talking about.

Our Baliblog hotel reviews are moving along and we hope they privide some useful info for people about to come to Bali.

I am hurrying because I have scheduled a bbq for 7pm and have yet to get anything for it except a 9kg bag of charcoal (69,000rp) from Ace Hardware in Kuta Galleria.

I am planning to skip the Jimbaran fish today as that whole situation was the most time consuming part of the bbq preparation. Instead I will get an assortment of things from Bintang and maybe Bali Deli in Seminyak. People have told me they like chicken and I don’t cook pork out of respect for any Muslim guests.

A small group from last week’s beach picnic promise to come so this will be the flip side for them…less religion, more meat and alcohol.

Lunch today was at Warung Batavia on Jl. Raya Kerobokan. Masakan Jawa is not usually ‘pedas’ (hot) and is ‘manis’ (sweet). I always see people who are obviously from Java including tourists and people who live in Bali. Today a whole family in an SUV pulled over for ‘nasi bunkus’ (to go food) and I can see if you have guests from Java visiting Warung Batavia offers something that feels like home.

This really is a great time of year to visit Bali, you don’t sweat to much and the days are sunny. Here’s our 10 day forecast.

You’ll hear about the bbq tomorrow.

Barrie/Nick (THE TWO FOOD GUIDE CRITICS)

Can one of you lads enlighten me in what Nasi Bunkus are as they seems to sound like some old German war trenches rather than some delightful Indo snack which i am sure they probably are. One thing is for sure and that is if i am going to visit Bali (which is a cert )
then i can think of no better persons than you two lads Nick and Barrie. I mean i just need to tell you whati like eg a spicey meat dish quite hot, and yous willbeable to recommend a dish that i will enjoy. I am sure this will be a big plus as there seems to be a wide selection of dushes from what i have learnt reading the Blogs and looking at Nicks photos of the dishes.
Yes bloggers take the hint as you squint (at the monitors folks) and if not skint then go book a flight and get to Bali folks. Yes i know my poetry is naff folks, but on a serious note Bali Blog and Nick and you Barrie have done enough to persuade me that sitting on a Bird (an aeroplane folks) for 16hours is worth it when you start aproaching Bali flying in low over the surf. Soon i hope eh lads !

Regardez Mark

Sean (in oregan)

I dnot know if you have filtration system mate but there appears to be a sicko sending mailsto the site as iam posting.(ref horse f****)

The same purv appears to be firing some sick messages thru to this site. Just letting everyone know that it aint me as its being posted about the same time i am posting (uk 23:30 ish -Mon Jul 5 )

If your reading this weirdo go find another site or better stillget off your P.C as you are breaking the law and as i work with computers i have ways of tracking you down via your postings and network address and you might well get a visit from the Law who will take away your PC and examine your hard disk for illegal photos. Dont laugh as it can be done and before you know it you will be before a judge doing some Bird (prison that is so dont get excited )

So switch off and piss off as nobody thinks your funny SICKO animal !

For a start, the best thing to do is delete this idiot’s comments. If he doesn’t get the message, then I hope he does get a visit from the law.

Great maps Nick I have printed them out to give to a friend of mine who is coming to Bali on the 18th July. She will find everything much easier.

Thanks Nick

Mark… Nasi Bungkus is food generally wrapped in banana leaves and bought from street vendors or warungs (as in take-away).
The word ‘Bungkus’ translates as ‘wrapped’.
