Sunday afternoon is usually a nice quiet time of the week in Bali. Balinese locals often have a day off and are busy visiting relatives, or taking part in some kind of local cultural thing like cockfighting, enjoying some satay or flying kites.
Andy Walker and I met at JP's Warung in Seminyak for some brunch and discused the last night's events. Andy said he felt safe and it was eeirily peaceful, people seemingly going about their business as usual. I guess if you are in Bali on holiday what else re you going to do.
We decided to check out Pura Uluwatu and my 110cc Honda Supra was up to the task of getting us there. The trip from Seminyak was about 35 minutes and great thing about the Bukit, where Uluwatu is located, is that it close by, offering a way quieter scene than Kuta. At the small booth outside the temple, staff were watching the TV news and helped us attach the sarongs that I had brought along. The entrance fee was 3,000rp each and we checked out the temple and cliff views for about an hour. While outside the inner courtyard we came into close contact with the temple monkeys, one of whom grabed the sunglasses from a German tourist, tried them on, then snapped them in half. Nakal sekali!
The sun was super strong today and we rode the extra few minutes down the hill to the famous Uluwatu surfing beach and enjoyed a couple of watermelon juices for 6,000rp each. All the locals know about the bomb, but don't really offer any opinion at this point.

Richard,
Raja’s is locate between KFC and McD’s in Kuta Square, same side.
Kuta Square is between Jl. pantai kuta and Jl. Kartika Plaza
Nick very glad to hear you and your family are safe. I feel much the same as most Aussies - why? why? why? Bali was finally getting back on it’s feet and looking positive again and now it has all gone backwards again.
I am so angry and so sad for the Balinese people - they must be absolutely gutted by this.
I urge people to prove to the mongrels who do this type of thing that they are not going to hold the world to ransom and suceed in their cowardly fight.
People must continue to travel, not only to Bali but anywhere we want to and thumb our noses at terrorists. There are more people who don’t want this type of fanatiscm than those that do want it. We need to stand united and beat the b@%*#ds.
I will be returning to Bali and I wish the Balinese people well.
Hey Nick, Ive been to a couple of times, where abouts is RAJAS Bar & Restarant located? I can’t think of where it is? Could you please let me know? Is it on the same side as McDonalds, or around the Tuban side?
Thanks in advance.
Richard
