After a quick breakfast at Cafe Moka in Seminyak I took off down the bypass for Internet Outpost on Poppies II. I met Patrice from France, a friend of Mark’s who deals in antiques. He was on his way to Ubud and I will be interviewing him soon. Today I experimented with using the legs of my covertible pants for sun shades.
I sometimes use my rain jacket for sun protection but it makes me hot so I am looking for another solution. The legs work fine under 25 mph, then they creep up my arm.
Another development is I have added 4 rows of Baliblog sticker to the top visor or my helmet to stop the sun roasting my forehead. Looks a bit funny but feels better.
Met up with my friend Paul Callahan from Byron Bay Australia who is writing a surf report as we speak. More of that to come.
In the popular cyber cafes you’ll see expats hussling to get their stuff taken care of on Mondays especially.
I walked along by the beach during lunchtime to see what was going on. Large pounding waves with Japanese guys trying theri best to get a ride before being pounded.
I’ve almost been here in Bali for 4 months!

Apakabar Nick
How long do you intend on
staying in dreamland for Nick?
Hi Tracey,Yeh it won’t be long
we’ll be there soon.
Nick do you wear your rain jacket
back to front while riding like
local style?
Nick, my friend from Seattle wraps herself up in scarves before heading out on her bike to protect herself from the sun. Squashing her helmet on to prevent the scarves from flying away, not particularly attractive but she looks younger than she really is & never get’s her face burnt. As for arms etc I would probably just throw a long sleeve shirt over the top or even backwards!? I think she has put long socks on before to protect her arms!?
Pedro, only 88 days my friend!!!!
I have enjoyed reading all of the entries & hope you don’t leave Bali in the near future as I look forward to sitting down during a break & having a good look & read at recent events.
Maybe you should go down Jalan Benesari & interview the boy’s at HEART BEATS leather shop (near the old Adrenalin Park), they can be a laugh!!
Keep the news coming!!!!!
I hope to be here for a few years. We’ll see how the economy does.
I usually just chuck on my jacket normal style and am now carrying the legs of my pants with me in the side pocket of my backpack, lighter and easier.
When taking a longer road trip I use my mask for protection against the truck polution so that covers part of my face, the other part is now partially shaded by the clear visor ( with stickers ). Sun block does the rest.
I’ve been putting off buying a pair of those girlie longshorts that come down to the calf as they look strange. They do make sense though as when I ride my bike the shorts climb up my thigh and on a long trip they take beating.
Tracey, I’m suffering with you thinking of how long you’ll have to wait to get here. Look on the bright side you might have the whole east coast to yourself by the time to arrive.
