Kuta has a high density of traveler based businesses ranging from travel agents, to internet cafes, to cheap places to eat, to guest houses.
I’ve done some form of promotions with most of them in the past and before I leave for Thailand tommorrow I wanted to go out with a flurry visiting guests houses and shops.
My specially made business card points the way toward Baliblog and the back can be used as note pad for contact info.
I found people here to be very receptive and hope I can help promote Bali as a great place to visit and highlight my favourite businesses.
Late in the afternoon I stopped at Bamboo Corner on Poppies I, a place that is bargain basement and is usually full. I saw Nyoman cleaning the floor and was suprised that there were few customers.
I ordered a pork satay for 8,500rp and a watermelon juice. Pretty good value I reckon.
I got a shock today as I walked past the cock fighting arena near Pasar Agung in between Poppies I & II. All those trees that were in that one square block opposite the small warungs behind Secret Garden have been cut down to make way for a hotel. It kind of a shame but I understand there are sacrifices to progress.
Cloudy afternoon here. Some of the travel agents said to me that after the Jakarta bomb their business has slacked off. I see new groups of travelers and surfers here each day though and in the early evening large groups hang out close to the entrance of Tubes and across the street on the steps of Kondra Internet. This is what we need, the place to be humming again.
