Sharyn's trip to Bali - November 2005: Cafes & Restaurants part II

Poco Loco is still selling great Mexican food and enormous frozen margaritas, although the service seems to have slipped quite a bit which is a real pity. This was the only place where any of the staff tried to pick us up-nearly spoilt a great meal. The Adi Dharma on Jl Legian is still cheap and cheerful, although I would forget about ordering seafood as the cooks there don't seem to realise they have access to fresh stuff. The standard rice and noodle dishes are fine though.

For really excellent vegetarian go to Aromas on Jl Legian-I had a Greek appetiser platter with the best spinach-ricotta triangle thingy EVER! The food is good enough there that I would go again-and I'm a confirmed carnivore-and the setting is gorgeous, perfect for a long lunch. We went to another great little cafe for lunch at a place which is just north of the corner of Jl. Seminyak and Jl Nakula-typically however I can't remember it's name but I think it was the Jaya, right on the street and very much part of the cheap and cheerful brigade.

Coming in a clear winner this time however is La Lucciola-definitely the most expensive meal we had but also the best overall. Excellent food, more-than-excellent service and a beautiful setting. Even now when it's quiet, it's still worth booking to ensure a seat right at the edge of the terrace for the best view of the water. The adjoining cocktail lounge is also a great place to meet before dinner and had quite a good crowd.
