Due to excessive shopping activity we didn't do any clubbing, but did managed to visit a few bars and pubs. Obviously KuDeTa is still there at the top of the list – although I can't decide whether I prefer later afternoon or full evening-it's a bit of a wave-watching versus stargazing toss-up.
This is one of the few places that is still consistently busy, although the restaurant seemed a little quiet and I heard a whisper that the food had gone slightly down-hill. Around the corner on Rum Jungle Road the James Cook is a tiny corner pub with a pool table, cheap drinks and some basic food choices. The pub seems to attract a mix of locals and foot traffic from nearby restaurants and has a great atmosphere and weekly pool comps (I still think that move was legal by the way). A big call-out to the Pom behind the bar.
As a consequence of repeated visits to Poppies Lane 2 for fittings and shoppings and stuff, we visited Pub Bagus (tag line 'bloody cold beer') a few times. A prime example of the classic Bali/Aussie bar-sport on the telly, a variety of beer on offer, good food and friendly staff-very handily placed for that first beer of the day. Fuel on Jl Legian is a great little bar of the more upmarket, modern style-although it was sadly quiet while we were there.
