Schapelle Corby marries Michael Jackson!!!

schapelle_wedding2.jpgThat would be a hell of a headline! No, its not going to happen. The Schapelle Corby case has generated a massive amount of media attention and stirred up emotions of injustice, xenophobia, and retaliation. The Indonesian embassy in Australia was closed for a second time after a mysterious white powder was sent by an unidentified source. This kind of thing is silly and will not help anyone. The emotions whipped up at the height of the trial, provoked by the media and discussed at length on many pro Schapelle websites. It has been reported that a vast majority of Australians participated in polls and said they believe she is innocent. That was in the heat the moment.

More recent polls suggest that number is returning to reality as the adrenaline wears off and people have more of a chance to think about things. I never believed the initial polling figures anyway because people who are inspired to take those polls were most likely people who believed she was innocent. They watch a sensationalist news item then jump online and join the queue to vote for her freedom.

A recent Guardian article points to the fact that there are other reasons for this case attracting so much attention.

News just in from Indonesia is that Corby is from a family of criminals. Her brother on stolen car charge - incarcerated - and her father was imprisoned for marijuana (cultivation?) some time ago. ??

Can anyone confirm this?.. has not been reported on in Australian press at all as far as I can see but made news yesterday in Indonesia on TV.

Certainly you would be crazy not to come to Indonesia because of this media circus around Corby. In the days of Suharto the judicial system was far worse, yet never was the numbers of visitors higher. We extend sympathy to her if she is innocent and the sentence is too tough of course but the redneck element jumping up and down in Australia, like the above poster, are doing neither her nor the Balinese any favours.

Now Mr. Hatapea is involved with the case I think the world will see something uniquely Balinese - Everyone will come out a winner, smiling and shaking hands:

The high court or district court will hold a retrial in which more evidence (and cash) is provided by Australia.

Judge Sirait will reduce the sentance to less than 1 year while still maintaining his image (who in the right minds will want to mess with him after reading about this case)

Corby goes home to major book deals, TV specials and movie deals - not bad for a years work inside.

Mr. Hatapea wins another major victory, proving that Indonesian justice can be forgiving provided the “evidence” is made available to the right people.

Bali will be in everyone`s “good books” again but you won`t be able to find even spliff anywhere for at least a couple of months.

Forgive me if I`m way off here, but thats the outcome I think (hope) we`ll see.

If shock-jocks like Alan Jones were fair-dinkum they would stop refering to her as a beauty student, and lay it on the line as “Former Yakuza barslut in Japan, Schapelle Corby…”
Having followed that career for a few years, she would have been intimately familiar with the drug trade.
How did she support herself on the Gold Coast? Not hard if you have a knowledge of Japanese language, and appropriate work experience!
Did big sister pioneer the Japanese experience… or go straight into dealing in Bali? Her best mate from Byron Bay admits she also worked in Japan… and what was she carrying on the plane which arrived one hour after Schapelle’s… just lucky that the customs officials were fully occupied when she arrived.

Nice one Bazza,
Done a bit of bending over for the Yaks yourself by the sounds of it.
Working as a Hostess in a bar in Japan does not mean that you are a Yak’s whore. Chances are she never even met one and wouldn’t have known if she had. and even if she had it is not their style to try to smuggle 4 kgs of Grass into Bali.

Whether she is guilty or not, it is a pity that you are not locked up and she is let out to write crap about you. But I think she may have more class than that.

Dear IB: You should get your head out of the sand or whatever it’s stuck up… are you just gullible, naive and an apologist? or are you a relative? She could never have worked in the bar-slut caper in Japan without submitting to Yakuza management. I never suggested she was carrying for the Yaks, but rather that she (and her buddies) would have been exposed to dealing as a sideline throughout that earlier career. It was a small career development from there, using the proceeds from whoring, to finance independent dealing in Bali. She should have stuck with the Yakuza management: they’re a lot smarter than her sister!

god, this is my favourite blog on schapelle. so stupid it’s funny.

do you know nothing? her half brother is in jail for petty crime, and her father has a 30yr old fine for being at a party where there was pot.

yes, there are lots of yakusa in japan. but everywhere? god - that’s a great fun theory - she worked in a bar, and therefore, was a whore who is now a drug dealer. you people are so vile - assuming she was a sex worker, does that automatically make her a drug dealer? and ofcourse, she works in a bar and must be a slut. where do you work, bazza? i know lots of people who work in bars, and they don’t all whore themselves. oh, that is right, in japan, everyone has to be a sex worker in a bar, because japan is strange, and they like having sex all the time. those japs. you are racist and stupid.

how did she support herself on the gold coast? She lived in her FATHERS HOUSE. i don’t think you need to be a drug dealer to be living at home…. and she worked at her mother’s shop. and she studied. does everyone who lives on the coast have a drug problem, bazza?

wow, i wish i was smart like all of you. god, honestly, why don’t you all go talk about something you are a bit more informed about, like, i dunno, wanting to score with big titted anime characters?

Dear Funny… you are more stupid than funny. You state “her half brother is in jail for petty crime”

… do you think this is petty? (from the Australian of 24 May 2005)
SCHAPELLE Corby’s half-brother Clinton Rose has an extensive criminal history, with convictions for numerous offences including two drug possession charges.

Court documents seen by The Australian yesterday contradict claims by Corby family members last week that Rose, 22, had never been convicted of drugs offences.
Clinton Michael Rose is serving an 18-month sentence at Woodford prison, north of Brisbane, while Ms Corby waits in an Indonesian jail cell for the verdict this Friday on a charge of attempting to smuggle 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali.
The court documents show that Rose appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on the Gold Coast on February 12, 2003, and was convicted of possessing a dangerous drug. However, he was not punished for the offence.
On the same day he was sentenced to six months on several charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and fraud.
Rose had been convicted without punishment in the same court on January 21, 2002, for drug possession and possession of a drug utensil. The documents give no details of the type of drugs or the amounts.
The Corby clan has repeatedly denied that members of the family were involved with drugs or had a criminal history. But when Rose was in jail in 2001, Ms Corby and her sister Mercedes were among his visitors.
Rose is now serving time for 62 offences to which he pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court in January 2002, including burglary, stealing and unlawful use of motor vehicles.
Judge Robert Hall sentenced him to three years’ probation.
But in August last year Rose was sentenced to 12 months’ jail for breaching conditions of his probation. Handing down the probation order in 2002, Judge Hall said the 62 offences, which caused a total loss of $46,558, were committed in just over six months.
Your campaign of crime shows a complete lack of respect for other people’s interests or for their property,” the judge said.
(end quote)
You are just as ignorant about bar sluts in Japan. Or, are you really so naïve… guess if you believe Schapelle was wrongly acquitted then you must be!
