The accused Australian accused drug trafficker Schapelle Corby is being held in Kerobokan jail just up the road from house. She has been accused of trafficking 4.1kg of cannabis (marijuana) in October and could face the death penalty if convicted.
The way things work over here she will not get the death penalty, just jail time. Executing a young Australian woman would be the absolute last thing the Indonesian government wants after the Bali bombing.
I feel sorry for Schappelle. Who is to say whether she is innocent or guilty. I am sure though that she regrets some of the choices she made. Paying her a visit and offering some food items was on my mind but in the article it says she wants privacy.
Personally I find the stories about corrupt Australian police planting the drugs on her and killing someone else, complete bullshit. Drug dealers ship whole fishing boats of drugs, they would not waste their time planting 4kgs of marijuana on a stanger.
Anyway I hope she gets a fair trial and justice is served. Maybe I will get a chance to meet her after the trial.

Hi Nick and also Bazza boy,
The Schappelle Corby case - Nick she claims she knew nothing about any drugs in her bag. The defense is that Australian drug runners plant drugs in random bags in order to ship them around Australia. They reckon the package should have bonly gone as far as Sydney but for some reason or another they ended up in Bali which is the worse thing that could have happened to Corby. This is because if she had of been caught in Oz she would have got just between 2-4 yrs for dope only as it is not CLASS A CAT but CLAS B OR C I thinks me so. But in BALI Wacky Baccy is treated the same as Heroin. In fact not long back someone was shot in Bali by firing squad for having 2 kilos and she had 4 kilos. Does not bode well for her does it. Nick i wouldnt be so sure she wont get the old firing squad mate. The prosecution are pressing for the death penalty and generally the bigger percentage of the Balinese also want her shot. It is that old Balinese mentality of the more she states her innocence backed up by other quarters the more the Balinese are turning against her shouting for her to be given the guilty verdict and shot by a twelve man firing squad. Not nice is it folks…..i mean i would not like to see it and yes it would do no good for Indo/Oz relationship. But the Indo’s really are trying to make examples of people caught with drugs and from what i have been hearing all the top people in government in Bali are gunning for her head mate. Just goes to show you folks…..always lock your back when travelling or ……. IT COULD BE YOU !!!!!!!

Hi Guruann,
Read your impressive blog and was indeed pleased to see a fellow Aussie getting into the mix of things with informative feedback on what’s happening.
Thankyou….
If Ms Corby is convicted then those who convict her will die.
Bali belly, bombings, tsunami’s and planted dope in your luggage when you arrive in Bali. Who in their right mind would chose to holiday there? Especially if you look at the type of accommodation that is being provided for Schappelle Corby, who, by the way, is INNOCENT!!!
Well how can you blame Bali for planting the dope if the guy from Oz says it was planted in OZ?
Double std’s!???
I was planning a trip to Bali with friends this year, IT HAS NOW BEEN CAMCELLED, going to Fiji instead! I won’t go to a country as barbaric as Indonesia, I wouldn’t risk my families safety mainly due to there justice system, or lack of it! Oh, did i mention that on this trip there were 50 odd people, not including children! Bad luck Garuda, Tuff for you Bali and Up yours Indonesia!

A few surprises reading these comments and following this story from France: (btw from a Frenchman who still apologizes for the criminal nuclear experiments)
How can anyone doubt her innocence for one f’ing second? She had no background that would make bringing weed to Bali a likely commercial activity for her to engage in, the economics of it are all wrong as has been amply demonstrated,She seems not to be insane enough to take such a risk, etc etc…
What makes some of you think dope dealers inside Australia running 4 Kg of Marijuana in this way is so improbable?
It seems to me, I may be mistaken, that there is not enough solidarity for this woman on the part of her countrymen and women, who should be doing massive protests and showing the Indonesians their determination to have real justice carried out, and obviously on the part of the Howard government, whom, as a non-Australian I will refrain from attacking here apart from opining that Mr. Howard is one of the most pathetic mediocrities in leadership, who appear to be giving smooth business relationships with neighbouring countries a much higher priority than the protection of their citizens from barbarians, and this can be said without any racism whatsoever.I hope the Aussie gov. are doing some effective behind the scenes diplomacy.Surely there is something like a tourism industry connection with lobbies or discrete pressure groups which could influence these « impartial» judges in making a decent decision based on the possibility of a massive Australian ( and indeed international) boycott of their Hotels and so on…
Finally, one thing seems really bizarre: the complete and total lack of attention this story seems to be getting in the international press, after all the story has all the ingredients…strange, are we so distant ?
Well Australians, I sincerely wish you luck rescuing your Damzell in distress, to me this is weirdly comparable to the Iraki hostage situation, humans stupidly inflicting misery on other humans, but there’s a lot of it going around.
Schapelle Corby is Innocent! I am 14 yrs old and i have closely watched Schapelle’s case and I haven come up with thta NO-ONE in their right mind would be that stupid!! Schapelle has sooo much going for her, shes a beauty student, she wouldnt risk getting caught with 4kg of Marriguana, especially without locks on her bag. Schapelle is the Victim of a Cruel Australian Drug Ring, who shouldnt have set-up this poor girl. I hope that The Indonesian Judges set her free, i mean, she is innocent and which country raced over to Bali when it was bombed???
I definately agree, SHE IS INNOCENT. I have felt a strong pull towards this case and have really been researching it, all i seem to be seeing is that she had NO reason wat so ever to have had anything to do with pot. All anyone is saying is that it was in her bag, that is realistically proof of nothing, IT IS ILLEGAL TO GO THROUGH CUSTOMS WITH LOCKS ON YOUR BAGS, how is anyone safe??? They should have to prove motive for her to have done it but i’ve heard nothing to prove that. I hope and pray that justice will be served and that she will be released. Keep up the good convo’s they are very enlightening…
I believe that schapelle is innocent! Why would any sane person take 4kg’s of dope into a country where they have the death penalty and also it would be worth way more sold in aussie. Set Schapelle FREE!!!!
She is definitely innocent. I usually think people caught with drugs in Indonesia are totally guilty, not to mention f’ing stupid, and I never feel sorry for them or even care if they get shot.
However, Schapelle is so blatantly innocent it’s beyond belief. Anyone familiar with the “camel costume” story will know that many baggage handlers in Australia are obviously corrupt and there needs to be an investigation! Why have I heard nothing in the news about baggage handler being investigated? Is the government doing ANYTHING?
I work with a guy who was travelling just recently and he had padlocks on his bag which were completely destroyed (deliberately) by a baggage handler at some stage of the trip. He went from Melb to Sydney, thru Asia and then on to Europe. It’s obvious to me that it’s the baggage handlers that are guilty and I’m shocked that not ONE of them has had the guts to stand up and tell the truth.
And OMG - have you SEEN the way the Indonesian officials handle evidence?! Not a GLOVE to be seen. I hate to think how primitive their “scientific” investigations must be. Assuming there are any. Maybe the Australian government needs to donate equipment and training to Indonesia so that we can help them catch people who are Actually Guilty!
I heard an American drug expert speaking on the radio the other day - he pointed out that although authorities round the world find 35 tonnes of heroin every year, 600-700 tonnes is actually produced every year. So one assumes that the traffickers are so wealthy that they pay authorities everywhere to turn a blind eye and that every now and then, people decide to catch some harmless git in Bali in order to look like they are doing their job. What do you think?

Camel suit story:
And one more thing…
Why the f*** should Schapelle have to spend 2 minutes in an Indonesian jail when Abu Bakar Bashir will only spend 3 years in jail for his PROVEN link to over 200 deaths in the Bali bombing??!
We appear to be dealing with corrupt, unscientific, illogical hypocrites.
I’ve never had any drive to go to Indonesia and now I think I can confidently say that if I never go there my whole life, I won’t lose a wink of sleep.
I firmly believe Schapelle is innocent (how could I not?) and I also firmly belive our government is also to blame. Seriously if this was John Howards relative, she would be back in Australia straight away. Can he for one second pull himself out of George Bush’s arse and help poor Schapelle? Don’t get me wrong, Indonesia are mainly to blame, the law system is bull, the police aren’t properly taught how to be police officers. Indonesia is a third world country and we all need to remember that. They ARE in the wrong. Bring the poor girl back home and compensate her for the horrible months she has spent in that jail. My thoughts and prayers are for you Schapelle, Australia IS behind you!
I think no one has the right to judge in a situation like this to put yourself in Corby’s state she is one of us so guilty or not guilty she deserves and needs our love and support at a time like this. I see the point where you say “that large amounts get shipped over why plant 4kg in a bag” but everything these days is corrupt.

Guilty until proven innocent?
Another reason not to go to terrorist-sympathizing hellhole Indonesia. A few months after accepting huge sums of charity during the tsunami disaster, the Indonesian government and people are in a fit of xenophobic rage and determined to lynch a white, infidel Australian girl, Schapelle Corby, dubbed that “Ganja Queen” by the local yellow press.
Worse of all, the farce of Indonesian “justice” has been revealed to the world. Here, the “criminal” (not suspect) must prove their innocence! Never mind that most drug traffickers would take the easily available drugs from Indonesia and sell them in Australia, not bring them from pricier Australia to sell in Bali. Better yet, the integrity of the evidence has been totally destroyed, with everyone including the judge handling the drug bag and getting their fingerprints all over it. After ruining the evidence, the police refused to fingerprint it as the defense asked since the integrity of the evidence has been destroyed (by the police themselves)! And to top it all off, draconian penalties could give the girl either a life sentence or the death penalty. This, the same failed state which gave mass-murderer terrorist mastermind Bashir something like three years for a mini-genocide of infidels in Bali. If this isn’t a legal lynching, and a racist one at that, I don’t know what is. So chalk up another reason to cancel that trip to the terror-loving, corrupt Javanese empire.
We need to do something!

Hello, please add me to the petition. Im from holland and I dont understand some comments. First of all how are you soo sure that this girl is innocent?? We must accept the law of other countries and if you go to other countries especially those in Asia you know about their drug system/law!! If the Australians will boycot Indonesia, it wont hurt the government/law system but the nice ever so friendly indonesians who already suffered from terrorism. I agree Indonesia should not give Shapelle the dealth penalty, so I will fill this petition for not giving her the death penalty!!
Davy van den Braak, The Netherlands
Apparently in 1997, an Australian tourist arrived in Bali and discovered drugs in his bag when he got to his hotel. He rang the Australian consulate who gave him a few bits of advice including “flush it down the toilet”. Which he did.
_Obviously_ someone planted the drugs there. Corrupt baggage handlers, I have no doubt. This rubbish has evidently been going on for a long time now, and we need to do something about it!
First thing that needs to be done is compulsory baggage searching BEFORE you even hand your bags over. Sure - you will need to get to the airport much earlier, but who cares? When you bag is weighed, you should get a receipt, and locks on all bags should be compulsory. If the locks are broken along the way, then you’ll instantly know something is dodgy.

Im from Israel and I heard about the Schapelle story. First of all I hope she will not get the death penalty, that is inhumane! But I read some comments about boycotting Indonesia, that is trully undiplomatic. Indonesia hasn’t do anything wrong than caught someone with drugs in her bag. Its not Indonesias fault but the staff at the australian airport. You should be mad to them! I agree that boycotting Indonesia wont hurt the government but the local indonesians and that is unfair.
I cannot understand why Australians are so mad to Indonesia, because this case is about a beautifull young lady?? But what if it is an old ugly guy?? Schapelle has been in jail since october 2004 and she is still alive, what about recently the story of an indonesian fisherman who was caught by the australian police and died 2 days later in prison??? So who is not treating well to foreigners?? I think you should think twice before making justments. Indonesia can survive without Australia as more europeans and Israelis visiting this beautifull country!
im agreed 100% to Eyal statement,
and what if it is a BLACK old ulgly guy? i think the investigation shoud start at australia itself, put down the drug network first, then rescue her..
I am a New Zealand citizen who also shares the same Disgust as most most Kiwi’s and Australians in not only the Corrupt Balinese Authorities and their one sided legal system, but also the lack of the support Schapelle has recieved by the Australian government oh and not to mention comments by Australias Commissioner Keelty I think your a bloody disgrace too! how could you knowingly make those comments denying there were corrupt baggage handlers in Australian airports you may as well put the bullets in the indionesion authorities guns and sent your fellow australian for the slaughter..How appauling of you Commisioner Keelty..”You should Resign” I will join most Kiwi’s and Aussies by “Boycotting Indionesia & Bali” I definately will not Visit Bali as long as I live!!..Keep your head up Schapelle We all believe in you and your incocense and are praying for your safe return to Australia!!!. This girl cannot be made example of she is “INNOCENT”
What the hell kind of law system is operating over there in that Godforesaken hole that they call Indonesia? Judges that don’t speak English, not interested in watching any video evidence of luggage tampering over in Oz or any new evidence that could help Schapelle’s case.Seems to me that even if you are innocent, they will find you guilty anyway. If you arseholes find Schapelle guilty, you’ll be wishing that the tsunami would have got you as well, and I for one, wish it had.

Leanne,
I can understand your point of view. The justice system over here is very different. I could go into detail but I could get into trouble by going into in.
The more I talk to people over here the more the plot thickens. Let’s wait to see what happens.
I’m from Indonesia, and believe me, the prospect of death sentence for an innocent person horrifies me as much as the next guy. However, I don’t have all the facts, and I surely can’t say whether or not she is innocent just by looking at her pretty face. There are all sorts of stories around, but the only certain thing that nobody denies is that she was discovered red-handed carrying 4 kilos of pot.
I know all to well that the justice system here in Indonesia is crooked, but I also know that no Indonesian judge nor prosecutor would ever dream of doing this case in other than the most fair & proper way for Indonesian court standard, because of all the publicity. The minister of justice and the attorney general are breathing on their necks, so these normally corrupt people are straight, at least for this case.
I resent all the anti-Indonesian comments, especially the one referring to Abu Bakar Basyir. It is tough to prosecute that guy because of circumstantial evidence. We have no qualms in pursuing death sentence in Amrozi’s case (one of the Bali Bombers). It is even tougher when the new constitutional court tossed the new anti-terrorism law out because it was deemed unconstitutional. In Suharto’s time those kind of guys would have bitten the dust already, but we are more democratic now and can’t do it the old-fashioned ways anymore. Besides, if you are that narrow-minded, we don’t want your money anyway. If Indonesia loses tourism money and becomes poorer, and breed more terrorists (out of poverty and lack of education), you dimwits probably think it won’t affect Australia.
Us regular Indonesians have practically no control over the courts, as the judges and prosecutors are not elected officials. To take your anger to Indonesians in general will not get you anything. Actually, since we have lost your tourism income anyway, our top officials might think they might as well get something out of this case, like sentencing her hard to scare would-be narco traffickers.
If we are looking at it purely from a legal standpoint, the prosecutor has a slam-dunk case, because the MJ was discovered on the person. The defense has a really tough job proving her innocence, especially after Keelty’s statement. If I were one of the judges, even if I try really hard to be fair an compassionate, it would be tough for me to acquit her. As a judge, I can’t just base my judgment on my gut instinct or on how pretty and naive the defendant is.
Now, the life-sentence recommendation proves that there is some serious thought put into this case. If the prosecutor believes beyond any doubt that she is guilty, they would have sought the death sentence, which is very easy considering the amount of marijuana discovered. This says that the prosecutor has some doubt, but yet he has to do his job anyway because you can’t just let someone with 4 kilos of MJ in her bag walk away. Not in Indonesia.
Nobody here is trying to get her personally, it’s just that we are beginning to have some serious drug problems here, and people wants to see some action. Unlike in Australia, few people can afford to go to drug rehabilitation programs here, so we have to make do with scaring the dealers off. My brother-in-law died of overdose. Drugs have turned him into a thief, which is really sad because he was otherwise a charismatic and intelligent guy.
We need help in fighting drugs, not your bigoted comments because you have a good gut feeling on some pretty white girl.
Wisnu,
I wish to commend you on an absolutely brilliantly written message!
All Australians do not agree with Boycotting Bali & I think we should look within our own backyards to see the problem before blaming Bali.
This girl was found arriving in Bali with 4kg of marijuana in her body borad bag, that is all we know as fact!
Everything else is hearsay…
We cannot amke judgements on her guilt or innocence from simply seeing tales on TV, as in every Country many are false…
As for the absolutely ridiculous comment about the Judges not speaking English, that’s just absurd, why should they? They are Judges in Indonesia not in an English speaking country!
Before I watched her interview on television I believed she was not guilty. But after watching her interview I think she is guilty.
Why? She was asked “have you ever experimented with drugs?” Her answer was something like “yes, but everyone does or like 80% or more do”
Then she was asked “have you ever bought drugs?” With her answer was “never.”
She just looks guilty now to me. Maybe she is innocent and maybe I will change my mind, but she looked very guilty in her interview.
Guilty or Innocent, I’ll be buggered if im gunna watch the Bailinese make an example of a young woman, sexist as it sounds. I read that a Balinese rep said something along the lines of “we dont follow Australian politics to learn how to handle our own” we’ll you might bloody well want to, you angry little bastard. Wheres the real justice? are their prisons equipped with approprate rehabilitive programs or is just a pit of punishment, is this a display on the part of Balinese courts or a red flag being waved at Ozy tourous headed up to Bali for some Surf and partyin? It realy sickens me to think that what is legal and accepted (as it should be) in places like Canada and Holland, can result in the ruining of a life in another part of the world, and yes she should have known better but hey we all make mistakes and is a rubbish bag load of weed worth the life of one of our own? I reckon Beezleys got the right idea, offer a prisoner exchange.
If not……well……..
Sam King.
Now this Sam King is a sexist, arrogant bastard. Just because you think it’s supposed to be legal doesn’t mean it must be legal, and it sure doesn’t automatically make savages out of the people writing and enforcing the law either. Weed is illegal at different levels of punishment in the MAJORITY of countries (including Australia and the U.S.) Apparently for you “real justice” is whatever law that suits your fancy.
I too think of your quarantine law at your airports as draconian. To think that Aussies can send me to prison for 10 years just for a stinking mango in my luggage sickens me. But, hey, they’re your law and you’re entitled to have it, and I better toe it when I’m visiting.
People value things differently in different parts of the world, and unless you begin to understand that, you’ll be in trouble when you travel abroad.
In terms of rehabilitation vs. punishment, the official name of a prison in Indonesia is “Lembaga Pemasyarakatan” which translates into “Social-Adjustment Institute”. The idea is rehabilitation, but the resource is not there to realize it, since we are not a first-world country swimming in money. Besides, what is so wrong in giving some punishment to narco dealers who are going to ruin tens of thousands of lives?
Narco dealer whose going to ruin tens of thousands of lives???? Are you joking? Its weed mate, there is a bloody sequence of severity here wether you like it or not. And yes a lot of Australian laws are extreme and I dont agree with half of them, im not trying to compare the aptitude of our two countries law making abilities. And I dont mean to degrade the rehabilitive capabilities of a Balinese prison, although I do doubt them, you said yourself your not a first world country with tons of money, and I would have to question your governments attack plan if they were concentrating on prisoner reform prior to handling the massive poverty levels. But still, thats not the point either, the point is, this is just another attempt by a S.E Asian country to big note itself at Australias expense, call me sexist and arrogant? look at the bloody substandard treatment of women in Bali for godsakes, your off your rocker mate, if it wasnt for Oz you’d be speaking Japanese homeboy, so you can thank my Grandad and the A.N.Z.A.C for the fact you even have a government , small minded and useless as it is.
Peace.
Sam King.
Indonesia is a country of 210 million people, so to say that tens of thousands are affected by pot is actually a gross understatement.
Sure, I can’t compare the destructive potential of MJ to heroine or cocaine, but it is an addictive drug nonetheless, and people here often use it as their first drug before they “graduate” to the heavier stuff. That’s why I say “ruined lives”. If I was talking about heroine or cocaine, I would have said “killed”. I mentioned in an earlier posting, the stuff killed my brother-in-law. Call me biased, but I care not about drug pushers.
The thing is, people have different standards on what they consider important. Australians think smuggling an egg into their country merits 10 years in prison, and Indonesians happen to believe smuggling any controlled addictive drug into Indonesia merits the firing squad. I don’t have a say in your law, and neither do you on ours. Our drug law was not designed with Australians in mind, it was designed with Indonesians in mind, so if it doesn’t suit your Australian sense of justice, too bad.
This is NOT about Australia (at least in the beginning), this is about Indonesians trying to prevent drugs coming in, however crude the method is. Your stuck-up nose might find it hard to believe that Indonesia (or Asia for that matter) doesn’t revolve around Australia, but it doesn’t. We couldn’t care less if she was Australian, American , or Martian. But, because your kind of Australians began throwing slurs and insults at us, it turned personal. NOW a lot of indonesians want her to fry, if only to stick it up your condescending, bigoted asses.
I didn’t say that Indonesia is free from sexist men, I merely stated that you are definitely a card-carrying member of their club. The fact is, the average Indonesian man is probably more sexist than the average Australian guy. If not because of this nonsensical hysteria and negative campaign against Indonesia, the judges and prosecutors would probably be more lenient to Schapelle, just because she is such an attractive young lady.
You take offense of my calling you arrogant, yet your Anzac and Japanese comment only serves to prove it more. By the way, the distinction of freeing Asia from imperial Japan goes to the U.S. and her atomic bomb, not your grandad. Aussies didn’t come to Indonesia to fight the Japanese off, merely to disarm them after their surrender. You’re not only arrogant, you’re misguided.
We’re not particularly thrilled with our own system, and most Indonesian won’t raise hell if you critique our corrupt government and corrupt court, yet we take offense when you say all of us are a bunch of bastards. If only you can keep your comments fair and not do a blanket denigration to all Indonesians, Schapelle might be home already by now.
Yeah well guess what mate, my dads american and his father served in the u.s navy in ww2 stationed in the South Pacific, so you can thank one for kicking Japans arse and the other for cleaning the mess up for you lot. If your judicial system would show lenience toward Schapelle for being “pretty” but then changed its mind because we got the shits with yas then they obviously wouldnt know “blind justice” if it got on a boat and cracked you in the face. Asia may not revolve around Australia but I dont see too many other countries in East Timor. This isnt about tit for tat mate, and thats my whole point, you mob reckon your doing the right thing, fair enough, but I like to see a bloody list of people doing “10 years for smuggling FOOOOD into Oz or out of it, its a slap on the wrist, a fine, much like Marijuana, nah, you’ve freely admited your government is sexist and corrupt. Well anyway, I hope that Bali succeeds in turning eyes away from how fucked up your country realy is, last time I was their I must have turned down fifty offers for “college girls” (underage prostitutes) or “chasing the dragon” (heroin or crack or some shit i dont know) so you dirty little 3rd world pisshole, hear this, that girl stays in prison or god forbid is executed, I swear to god I will personaly take it out on every single Balinese man I have the chance to. I will go back to Bali, and I will beat the shit out of so fucking many of you angry little shrimp dicked cunts, yeah I am a racist, sexist, fucking ocker, but I dont give a shit, this is personal and I dont give a shit about sounding smart or fair or anything, so respond as eloquently as you want, just provide your name and I’ll fucking start the arse kicking with you.
Samuel King
Chester Hill, New South Wales, western fucking suburbs.
Well, thanks for showing your true self. You just saved me a lot of typing. I had a glimpse of hope that this might be an intelligent conversation, but so much for that. Please do come and start “kicking arse”, for I will enjoy seeing you rot in our stinking prison.
Your right, that was unintellegent I apologise I thought about it all day, this whole things just realy getting under my skin. Prison sucks, thats just the end of it, believe me I know, and I just cant stand the thought of a young woman, from my country, stuck in a prison over a plant, and I looked it up, theres currently no one serving time for food related contraband. I dont know how to continue this argument, im over passionate about the finer points. So to all you Balinese reading this I apologise, unless your for Schapelle’s execution then fuck you.
Sam King.
Apology accepted, and I too apologize for my unkind remarks.
Well, we don’t make a distinction between one kind of addictive drug to the other because they are all destructive to society, albeit at different levels. Sure it’s a plant, just like opium poppy and coca.
I can understand your passion. And surely you can understand mine. Imagine the same pretty girl, hooked to pot then progressed to crack. Her only mistake is using it the first time, after that she no longer has control because these are very addictive substances. Many families here watch in horror as their lovely girls turned into zombies, and worse, into criminals (to support the expensive habit). Not many drug rehab centers are available, and most people can’t afford them anyway. These poor families could do nothing but to comfort their girls, and if they’re lucky, their beloved girl would die before she dragged the entire family into bankruptcy.
If their girl is not an addict and simply imprisoned for something, they can always visit her. But, when she becomes an addict the family lost her forever, because she is not the same person anymore. Nobody deserves this, that’s why there is a lot of raw emotions against drug dealers (or anybody perceived as one).
If we take all the politics and hysteria out, this case is not about Schapelle personally. This is about us trying to keep the pushers out. The prospect of seeing a pretty young girl languish in prison (or die before a firing squad) doesn’t comfort us either, but if she IS guilty, then we have no choice.
So far, there is no compelling evidence that she is innocent, while there is an overwhelming (4.5 kilos) evidence that she is. Even if the judges believe her, they can’t just let her go without anything supporting her innocence, because that would be unfair. The prosecutor said that he is willing to drop the case if Schapelle’s team can prove that the bag didn’t contain MJ when she checked it in, or prove that somebody else put it there. So far the defense managed to muster nothing compelling, so don’t blame the court if they can’t let her off easy.
Judges and prosecutors in Indonesia are not elected officials. They can afford to vote their conscience and set Schapelle go if there is compelling evidence that she is innocent, even if the entire Bali is screaming bloody murder.
I do think there is something fishy here. How could the Indonesian judges, police commander, and prosecutor all gun for the death penalty very early on. How could Keelty make such comments, and how could Howard’s response be so muted. To me, all the Indonesian and Australian authorities acted as if they know something we all don’t, and they might as well do. I discovered at least two accounts where people claiming privy to inside information said that Schapelle is indeed guilty, and that AFP has planned the sting for some time before bringing POLRI in.
These conspiratorial accounts could be rubbish, but if the majority of people are convinced that she is innocent just by looking at her pretty face from their TVs, then anything is fair game. I for one is not swayed either way, and comfortable in letting the legal process take its course.

Ridiculous, Wisnu. Other “pretty white girls” have been arrested in Asia for drug smuggling and we haven’t made much of a noise about it because we know they’re guilty.
Your attitudes towards us seem at least as racist as you appear to think we are. At least _our_ authorities wear GLOVES when handling evidence.
Yes, of course it’s true that not ALL Indonesians are corrupt and evil, just like all Australians are rascist, stupid or even white or blonde, and even _I_ blaked at the post sent earlier saying “Indonesian Judges don’t even speak English”. Of course they don’t - THEY’RE INDONESIAN! (DER!)
I wish the entire world would wake up and legalise ALL drugs. Then there would be almost no market for them and there would be NO risk in producing and marketing them, so they would never need to be expensive again so there would be no crime associated with them. The governments could produce all the drugs, make them in known quantities (to avoid overdoses), could tax them and then put the money towards health issues.
Kim…
I know what you mean about drugs mate but look, im 27 years old, I smoke weed every single day of my life, and I also manage to run my own construction firm, and have never even considered crack or heroin, now I may be an exception, but honestly, this whole “marijuana is a gateway drug” thing is bullshit. Ever seen a piss drunk 18 year old? now theres a menace if you ask me, not some kid kicked back on the beach with a billy in hand. And then on the other end of the scale is this, 4 kilos of pot, thats obviously no sunday on Bondi, (Byrons more like it) but to treat a plant, the same as a manufactured designer drug, thats absurd. Maybe Bali should be a little less hasty to blow the fucking heads off drug dealers and try looking a little deeper into the real problems, like mendanancy and the sub-par treament of women, maybe so many “pretty young girls” got into weed so they could turn off their minds while some big fat sunburned Aussie ex-pat has his way with them. If my families only source of income was earned with me on my back I’d probably upgrade to crack aswell.
Sam King.
Well, Kim, could you show me these other “pretty white girls”. Of course they should be Australian and be at least half as gorgeous as Schapelle. I saw a particularly good photo of her yesterday, and man, I can understand why half of OZ is salivating over her.
There are three kinds of racist. The first kind believes it and says it, the second kind believes it and doesn’t say it, and the third one doesn’t believe it but subconsciously do. I can do nothing about the first two, but maybe I can wake the third one up. I pound and exaggerate on the racist issue (at the risk of being called racist myself) with the intention of bringing this unpleasant subject to your attention. I did get your attention didn’t I?
Whenever people call me a jackass (you won’t argue with this, would you?) I always step back and think, am I really a jackass? If I don’t think and feel like a jackass, did I act and talk like one? This is the kind of effect that I’m looking for by calling you racists.
Whether you like it or not, Australia has a history of racism (White Australia policy and your past treatment of the “aborigines”). I’m merely making sure that it doesn’t return subconsciously.
And Sam, if you think that ALL (or even the majority of) indonesian girls are whores working as sex slaves for their families, I believe you are deep in your MJ when you write this. Maybe pot is as serious as the other stuff, because it dumbs you down just enough to be dangerous.
Sam, you are lucky that you can smoke pot and have a career at the same time, because you were not born an idiot. I know of people who lead “normal” lives while taking pot, but I also know plenty of people who simply lost it because they are idiots. Having low intelligence is not a crime, so the blame must go to the drugs and their pushers.
Looking at the history of alcohol Prohibition in the US, I can’t say that drug legalization never entered my mind. However, I know Indonesia and I know the conditions here. Legalizing drugs here will make them way too accessible to kids. In a country where you can freely buy prescription drugs without prescription, legalizing and controlling drugs is not an option. Believe me, we don’t impose the death penalty simply because we get the kicks out of watching people shot. The bullseye is on my ass as much as on yours, because if I -an Indonesian- got 4 kilos in my hands and got this much publicity, I’ll wake up one day and eat lead as breakfast for sure.
Kim what you have to understand about the complexities of legalising drugs, esepcialy marijuana is the coroprate ramifications. The criminilization of marijuana keeps billions of dollars flowing through the pockets of the big paper tycoons and cotton barons. A lot of powerful companies are funded at their very roots by drugs, and this whole thing were all here tearing our hair out over, is about drugs and the governments involvement. We probably never will see world wide legalization, rather little pockets like Nimbin, or northern California, places that secularize themselves as indepent communities. And Wisnu’s right about the easy acsess for children, but there is a need for a government based addiction rehabilitation process, and I think Sydney and Melbourne rank right up there with Amsterdam when it comes to handling methodone and other heroin weening processes, but honestly the only reason I think this whole thing is such bullshit is because it is marijuana, not smack or coke or any other shit. Its fucking weed, I dont care what your laws are I disagree whole heartedly. It grows from our planets soil, I will not abide my interaction with the natural world to be monitered by the beuracatic web.
Sam King.
Even in Iceland we heard about this story.
I read the comments of you Sam King and sorry to say this you seems to me an uneducated person who do not know about history! Go back to school! Also the comment of Kim..hey the judges in Australia doesnt speak Icelandic as well..dont they??
Anyway I just wanted to say that you Australians you should not be mad to Indonesia, this country hasn’t do anything wrong. If Schapelle was caught in Singapore/Malaysia or Thailand then same thing will happened she will get the death penalty (especially in Singapore)! Would you also boycot one of these country?? Why are you not boycotting Singapore as an Australian man with Vietnamese origin is now in death row because of smuggling drugs?? Because this man is not 100% Australian? Which nation is stupid..no wonder the british government dumb all their prisoners on an island so called Australia. Your grand grand grand grand dads are prisoners!
Wheres my history innacurate? back up your slag mate, anyway you may have noticed as I wrote in my tyrade earlier, IM NOT HERE TO SOUND INTELLEGENT!! This is about base instinct, “shoot my cat and I’ll shoot your dog” I realy dont give two stabbin arseholes wether she’s innocent or guilty, I said it before, I dont think Bali does either, this is a media frenzy and at the heart of it all is a damsel in distress, so I realy need you to know, I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ANY ONE OF YOUR COUNTRIES!!! Why should I? No ones asking you to be compasionate to us, this is more like a threat, kind of like the playground days. Give us back our girl or you will taste the fucking curb. And by the way mate, im proud of my convict ancestory. Yep England took their undesirables and dumped them on golden shores, a few generations of sun, good food and some hard yakka and look at us now, were the number one sporting nation on the planet, we’re the dominant military force in the south pacific and….well why am I trying to justify my pride to you? I cant imagine you have much to be proud of besides Bjork, you fucking twat.
Sam King.
whatever..i bet you dont even know where Iceland is.
Im going to Bali soon..YUPPIE!!!
Ive been around the globe three times mate, have fun in Bali, dont worry, any night club bombings or Tsunamis or rebel uprisings and Australia will be back over there helping out as usual. Easy to point the finger at us for our history of racism isnt Wisnu, the whole white Australia thing, the lost generation, believe me I know, do you ever wonder what it feels like to grow up with the guilt most white people are forced to feel in colonial countries? Well guess what, my ancestors came to Oz in chains, they werent pom settlers taking Aboriginies as slaves and worse, they were cracking stone right beside them, the South Pacific is full of stories like the rape of Aboriginal Australia. Like the Maoris, after discovering the Chatham islands, the Chatham Islanders offered the arriving Maoris, women, livestock, anything to avoid war. But the Maoris decimated them, taking all their women and all their livestock, they left nothing of the Chatham Islanders in their path, a lot like the English centuries later. You want to start pointing fingers go right ahead, but dont blame a nation for the sins of their oppressors, the Australia of today is not the crowns servant. You dont see the world pointing fingers at the Spanish for the state of the Phillipines, why? because it was so long ago? No, because its understood by those people as a time in their history when they were not strong enough to withstand the oncoming of colonists, just becuase the Aboriginals werent powerful enough to deflect the English doesnt mean the English should have turned around and sailed away, this is a race for dominance mate, between us and animals and eachother, and right now we as humans are on top, and as much seething fucking hatred I have for the English monarchy, I dont see their expansionism as a mark of evil, just the way they went about it.
Sam King.
p.s, are you calling me a Yuppie Thorvaldur or is that Icelandic for Yipee.
Im going to Bali next week..can anybody tell me if Im able to visit Schapelle even I dont know her personally, I just wanna talk with her and if Im able to give her some essential things like showergel etc?
And Sam…Im calling you a YUPPIE!!!
Im agreed 100% with Thorvaldur statement..the way that Australians are handling is not fair towards Indonesia. This case was mentioned in our newspaper and I feel sorry for Schapelle because I think nobody deserve the deathpenalty no matter what the crime is, but to let her free I think thats not fair to other prisoners.
I have been to Australia few times and I watch with my own eyes how bad australians treat the Asians/Australians. And now I read these comments and I have my doubts about Australia. I think this nation has a lot of racists..Thorvaldur has right why are you not helping this Aussie man in Singapore because he is a man or he is of vietnamese origin?? You can’t be 100% sure that Schapelle is innocent.
All I want to say is you should treat your citizens at the same level, not because if you are an Australian with an etnic origin you will be on the 2nd place. Take an example of Holland, we treat all the Dutch no matter what he/she etnic background is at the same level! Thats why Im so proud of my country!
First off Thor, I dont think you know what yuppie means mate. Second off, Ruben, dont make judgments you cant understand. Its easy to see some ill-sentiment toward a lot of Asia from a lot of white Australians, but what you dont see is the reciporcate sentiment from the vietnames and cambodian communities especialy in the western suburbs (where i am from) Australias lack of involvment with the bloke in Singapore is less racist and more sexist to be honest with you, but I unlike most of you lot, am not going to deny this politicaly incorrect undercurrent of the Australian mentality. And I love how this has become us few people representing our entire nations, I speak for myself here as a member of the human race. I have family in Asia, the Philippines to be exact, I also live in a lebanese community, being as my nan was born in Oz to Lebanese parents, I am not speaking from the stand point of a “white” Australian, I am speaking from the stand point of a patriot, and a protector of my own tribe no matter what the political rammifications. No one ever asked any of you to get involved in whats occuring between the Balinese Tribe and the Australian Tribe, its Oceania’s buisness, your European ideals are lost in a world like this Ruben, we are a very benevelont race of people these days, our involvment in the Allied stuggles in both world wars is a testament to our concern for the path of righteousness on the planet. You also need to stop pointing the finger at us like where some big bully who doesnt want to play fair. If you, as a memeber of very civilized people (I have been to Holland) cant see the absurdity of this womans incarceration then I am surprised. I have to say this aswell, I do not question Schapelles guilt, I realy think it has become irrelevant, what I question are countries, who still adhere to laws as severe as Balis concerning Marijuana.
Oh by the way Wisnu, you mentioned marijuana is a plant just like poppy or coca, I suggest you watch Snowstorm in Jungle, its a Jacque Costeau movie about the use of the coca leaves by idigenious south americans, and the absolute difference between it as a cultural medicine and its use as an ingredient in a combination of chemicals and processes that render it cocaine, aswell as Poppy. Then maybe you might begin to turn that supposedly bline eye of justice toward the reality of this situation and understand that there is no way in the world this girl is getting a fair trial, you said it yourself, the judges may have been more lenient had this not become such fanfare, that scares me, how is that impartial???!!!! how is that not revenge??!!! Its easy to hate what im saying especialy when it becomes racial, cause no-one likes to hear a member of a white majority nation ever express their lack of respect for any minority cultures. Well, im sorry but I just realy cant respect a government who condemns people so severly for anything short of rape and murder, irrelevent to the implications that weed is a “gateway” to all these worse things.
Sam King.
Sam, you are an excellent example why any drug should be treated seriously. If you follow your own postings, you’ll see how severe your mood swings are, all the way from calm/reasonable to mad/hateful. I thought such things were only possible for women suffering PMS. If you keep it this way, someday you’ll offend someone you can’t afford to.
I’m glad that accounts claiming Schapelle’s possible guilt has begun to surface. I’m NOT GLAD that it would jeopardize her even more; I’m glad that it would make Indonesian court system look less of a villain.
Schapelle’s father was convicted of drug posession.
Her half brother is currently serving time in prison.
Schapelle is well known in the “social” scene on the coast, prior to her arrest.
Inside information: people with AFP contacts claimed that AFP has been following Schapelle and her family for some time. There is a claim that AFP knew of her bringing the stuff into bali, and that AFP contacted Bali Police to arrange for the arrest. This would definitely explain Keelty’s attitude and Howard’s reluctance.
Inside information: The police who discovered the bags were not convinced that she is innocent because the bags were wrapped in such an intricate way around the boogie board.
Inside information: People with Bali Police contacts claim that Schapelle originally admitted that she carried the stuff. She recanted later after learning that MJ posession carries the same stiff/lethal punishment. This would explain the prosecutor’s and the police commander’s conviction.
Some people claim they know Mercedes Corby’s husband -who owns a surf shop- has a “side business”.
High quality pot like the one in Schapelle’s bag worth more in Bali than in Australia.
Sure, most of this stuff is hearsay. But since Australians find it appropriate to drag a convict all the way to Bali only to give a hearsay testimony and fully expect the court to believe him, anything is fair game.
Regardless of all these accounts, I still don’t find it appropriate to say whether or not she is innocent. However, I’m convinced that anyone who draws a guilty/not guilty conclusion based solely on media coverage is not thinking straight.
Mood swings? I’ve never gone back on anything I’ve said here at all, i’ve merely apologised for its intensity. Do you drink or anything? I mean you seem to be one of those people who cant have conversations with “admited drug users” without turning to that as your defense everytime you get cornered logicaly. We’ll see what happens, and once again, for the last time, I dont care if shes innocent or guilty, im incapabable of making that judgment, I just think Bali owes Australia too much to be behaving this way, you know? when it comes right down to it your right, dont do the crime if you cant do the time, but after all that the “scene” in Bali has cost Australia you owe to Australian casualties of Bali’s convenient lenience.
Sam King.
I love how every time you have no response to my postulates you use my admition of marijuana use as your defense for your lack of ability to respond. Are you backed into a logical corner?
Wisnu: Explain to me how im wrong in trying disolve your argument that marijuana and cocaine are on the same level.
Thor: again mate, you accused my history of inacuracy, where and when? cmon, back it up.
You guys all band together so well on your little politicaly correct wagon of bullshit and complacency. Wisnu, your right about a lot of things and I know your passionate about your countries pride, but you must know this girl faces impossible odds of having a fair trial, no matters whose fault it is, Balis for lacking the ability to be fair or Australias for pissing you off.
And Thor, you have nothing useful to say anyway so shut the fuck up, stay away from Corby, no ones asking you to do a fucking thing down here, just come and spend your money, and then go home and mend your sun burn.
Sam King.
Well Sam, looks like I did make a mistake. I thought your disagreement with me is about the relative stiffness of the punishment, which I think we have agreed to disagree. I thought your “give Schapelle a break because we helped you” line was a one time passionate plea. However, since you have made it clear that it is a permanent demand, I withdraw my statement about your mood swing. You are a full-time fool.
If you actually read my previous postings, I did say (at least twice) that marijuana and cocaine are not on the same level. Let me quote myself:
Sure, I can’t compare the destructive potential of MJ to heroine or cocaine, but it is an addictive drug nonetheless, and people here often use it as their first drug before they “graduate” to the heavier stuff. That’s why I say “ruined lives”. If I was talking about heroine or cocaine, I would have said “killed”. I mentioned in an earlier posting, the stuff killed my brother-in-law. Call me biased, but I care not about drug pushers.
Well, we don’t make a distinction between one kind of addictive drug to the other because they are all destructive to society, albeit at different levels. Sure it’s a plant, just like opium poppy and coca.
I also mentioned that we tack stiff punishments to drug offenses because we can’t afford rehab centers. I would be angry if my government begin subsidizing drug rehab centers while plenty law-abiding citizens can’t even afford to eat 3 times a day. Any money that we earn should go to them first, not to some law-breaking, adventurous people seeking fun from drugs.
I disagree with you on Schapelle’s chance of fair trial. The court’s performance is not exactly stellar all the time, but for high-profile cases like this I’m convinced that we’ll have a fair trial. Sure, we’re sloppy with the fingerprinting process, but we also allow the aussie convict to testify on a hearsay. You gotta take the good with the bad. Besides, she has two chances to appeal, all the way to the supreme court.
As for the effect of Aussie negative hysteria on the court, I believe the effect would be small if not nonexistent. Sure, a lot of pissed Balinese would have her burn on a stake as an answer to Aussie negativity, but since the fall of Suharto the court has been empowered so much that it can now afford to ignore both the government and the public, just like it’s suppose to.
Schapelle’s case has nothing to do with Bali Bombing and Tsunami aid. If we can help you in any other circumstances we would, but we don’t (and shouldn’t) corrupt our court by forcing it to release Schapelle, especially with such lack of evidence pointing to her innocence. We have spent so much effort in establishing the rule of law in this country that we cannot (and should never) reverse it just because of one very popular/unpopular person. The court must be respected, and millions of Indo (and Aussie) haters must not have a say on the court’s verdict.
The loss of Australian $ will be felt, especially by poor Balinese. But, if this is the price we should pay for affirming the rule of law (not to mention defending our sovereignty), then so be it.
Fiji, Vanuatu or even New Caledonia maybe even iraq sound like a far safer investment for Australian & global tourists to the south pacific! i would be urging eveyone i come into contact with to do the same in boycotting travel to bali and parts of indonesia! I wouldnt wish the agonising mental trauma on anybody of my aquantance, if i was to be in the unfortunate position the Chappelle is in (having my bags tampered with during transit). The Indo legal system requires felons to prove their innocense as appose to their being proven guilty, backwards in comparison to the rest of the world! I wouldnt relish corby’s situation, sitting infront of 3 wise monkeys looking to make an example of her! She’ll have to pay the price for the person’s mistake of not removing the MJ out of her bag at Sydney airport. Maybe the officials behind the Indonesian legal system would’ve benefited from the 4.1kg bag being despersed into their society, not that it would’ve made a big dent in the illicet drug business over there anyway! it would be as useful as trying to smuggle tea into china.
(i dont think even a bag snatching indonesian monkey would have more brains than to attempt to import MJ into bali where its worth not even half the price.)
Bring back Common Sense & Judgment!
and go to hell bali ![]()
Im from France and I read the story of Schapelle. First of all Im against the death penalty,so I hope she wont get the firing squad.
But I agree 100% with some comments that australia is reacting very silly towards Indonesia.
At this moment a french guy called Michael is in jail in Bali. He is 30, was a goodlooking guy but do we act the same as australians do?? Saying about boycotting Indonesia etc. in fact France investments in Indonesia grew and more French tourists visit Indonesia. You should accept the law in other countries and in this case Schapelle doesn’t have any evidence that she is innocent like Michael so bad luck. I wonder if Im caught in Australia with drugs in my bag and saying to the australian authorities that Im innocent and I will be a free man..no way! Even if I have some fruit in my bags I can be punished..but I should accept that.
And Sam King I read your comments and I think you act like a kid! Come on man grow up..if you dont even know where/when the inacuracy of your history is than you should really go back to school!
Anyway I just wanna to say dont boycot Indonesia as the people didn’t do anything wrong. You just help them to visit their beautifull country!
For anyone who is interested in the story of Michael visit his website:
http://www.michael-blanc.com
I hope not all Australians are like you Sam! The way you react only proves how uneducated you are. Read your own comments again and find it by yourself where the inacuracy of your history is. Maybe then you can learn from it…
dont call me fool you degenerate. I think you think Oz won some sort of prize to become a first world country that you lost in Bali. Guess what, its called hard work, its called putting religion on the political back burner, something your kind will never understand. Shit how many religions has Bali adopted over the last 200 years? Catholocism, Muslimism, you cant even think for yourselves, your like scared children who always listen to the bigger kids. Well your not listening now little Bali, why not? Are you trying to play grown up games like “hey we have our own international court case” or “hey look we do things grown up countries do to” when will you learn that you only exist today becuase the rest of the civilised world allows it? Some day places like Indonesia will go the way of Iraq, and we, the first world, will shit upon you from such a height you may think one of those gods you people love so much has just taken a giant dump on you. The time for secular existense is over, sooner than later you will be either financialy or physicaly absolved from independence. Your like a wayward teenager Bali, but you have bitten the hand that feeds you, and that will not be forgiven. We will force you down where you belong and again you will be thankful for our visits, you will be thankful for our philanthropy and you will pay for your ignorant attempts at justice.
Good day to you.
Sam King.
No probs there Thor, We are all not like Sam!! Thank the gods for that one…
Sam, I am Balinese Hindu & extremely proud, as are all of my Balinese relatives, but I don;t think putting down a nother country makes you feel any better unless you a schizophrenic mental case! Hmmm, perhaps the drugs have induced this, which working in the past with drug addicts from ALL various walks of life & avriations of addictions ‘including simple marijuana’ Schizophrenia is common!
I believe this is what you have & you should seek help!
Australians will still go to Bali & nothing you or the other half wits here say about boycotting it will make any difference!
Have a glorious day in your drug in your imaginary world that any gives a toss about anything you say or think!
guess Sam doesnt have anything to say anymore…good!
Well thor I asked three times for you to elaborate on your accusation that my history was wrong but typical of someone unable to back up their own statements you can say nothing more than “if you dont know im not gonna tell you” so yeah Im done, this isnt a debate anymore, its just a bunch of pathetic wanks who know fuck all banding together against a common enemy. Thats ok, im not looking for your respect you certainly never had mine.
Tracey D. Where you from? Sound like a fucking Melbournite to me, who gives a toss what you say either ya cunt.
Sammo. you pack of fucking poofters.
it’s gunna be on ! Fuck Bali

INSULT ME ALL YOU WANT I DONT GIVE A FUCK, I WILL PUT YOUR KIND UNDER THE FUCKING BOOT I PROMISE YOU, I PROMISE……….
SAM KING.
PAX…
Sam, my old son! Let the adrenalin wear off and consider your comments.
The first comment I ever made about Schapelle said I found her alibi to be nonsense. Don’t get me wrong, she seems a nice person, I don’t want to see her get the death penalty or even a long prison sentence, but emotion is only going to go so far.
While people who have been watching prime time tv in Australia are passionate about Schapelle’s innocense, most do not have access to the facts, or local Bali talk about what is going on.
I have talked to Bali expats (Aussies). Their view: guilty. Today I talked to Australian media guys: guilty. You ask an Australian (not an Indonesian) cop what the most likely scenario is and he will say she is guilty.
Sorry to seem like a pessimist but my opinion has only got stronger the more I talk to people.
The Bali court DID NOT trick her into a conviction. They simply found her guilty of importing drugs. They DID NOT change any rules or sentencing guidelines to make it harder for her.
I will ask you this. You get caught bringing drugs into a dozen other countries, including the US and see how much they will listen to stories about drug-cartels and baggage handlers.
if australians dont boycott indonesia and import nothing from there nor visit or help indonesia in any way they are gutless bastards–dont buy indonesian products –no matter how cheap they are–they sentence mass murderers to two years–and innocent people to 20 years–if we were bigger we should attack the scum and destroy it
JAKARTA - Nineteen men convicted for their roles in the 2002 Bali bombings received reductions in their sentences on the Eid Al Fitr holiday, a prison official was quoted as saying on Sunday.
The reductions did not apply to the three key bombers who received death sentences and one serving a life term, said Tulus Widjajanto, head of a prison on the resort island of Bali.
Widjajanto was quoted by the official Antara news agency as saying that the 19 other Bali bombers at his prison received sentence reductions ranging from 15 to 45 days.
The Eid holiday is a traditional time for inmates with records of good behavior to get their sentences shortened. Numerous other prisoners in Bali and other parts of the country also received remissions.
what the fuck????
Sam King.
By the way Nick, I reckon she probably is “guilty”, doesnt change the fact. Bali owes us, bottom line, “justice” has never been an applicable term for the Balinese court system, why should it be so important to them now?
Rally up mates, I reckon we go bust her out, I got about twenty savage western suburbs cunts who’d love nothing more than go bust some skulls in Bali.
Thorvaldur, your still a cocksucker you fucking Icelandic wank.
Sam King.
DO NOT TRAVEL TO INDONESIA.
You will come across dig-head Judge Sirait who is a single-minded arsehole
Look, I completely agree with the notion that the sentence is far far too severe for the crime. Twenty years for a relatively harmless drug is absurd. But there are idiotic laws in every country and you simply have to abide by those rules when you are a visitor within their borders. If there was incontrovertible evidence of her innocencce then we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. There simply isn’t any reliable evidence that proves her innocence. The Indonesian government has nothing to gain from framing an Australian citizen considering it is still desperately in need of aid. Just look at the facts. Granted, the media isn’t the greatest source of reliable information.
Does anyone actualy read this things or what? I must have said fifty times now “I know shes probably guilty and I dont care” This is point when stupid laws like that become exposed for their stupidity. Im not interested in fair, or just or any of the above, I just simply will not idly watch a member of my tribe be put under the jail in a shit hole like Bali, if this was in England or America, number one, she wouldnt be doing 20 fucking years, but I would accept it because these are first world countries capable of “rehabilitating” I dont care what you say about the Balinese but they are of a sub-par government, they arent incapable of “rehabilitating” anything, least of all their own sad state of affairs. This is not about her guilt, not at all.
Bring her home, im warning you Bali.
Sam King.
What the fuck are you all saying…she is lucky she didn’t get the death penalty!!! If she was caught in Singapore she will be sentenced to the dealth penalty!! You Australians are dumb of shit!
heey Sam so what Im a cocksucker..at least Im not such a unintelligent person like you! You are really a DUMB ASS, have you really nothing better to do than defending Schapelle with your silly arguments??
Go ahead go to Bali with your ’savage western suburbs cunts’ you wont make it further than the airport! SCHAPELLE IS GUILTY and she deserve this sentence!
BTW Im in Bali right now enjoying the Balinese hospitality..super!!!
20years is much but less than 40 or 50 years! A British women was caught with 2kg of Marihuana in Thailand and was jailed for 45 years!!! Indonesias law is not the toughest in Asia, in fact Thailand, Singapore(!!) and Malaysia has tougher law for drugs smuggling!
I feel sorry for Schapelle, she is guilty but I think her sister and brother in law has more to say..
þinn móðir er a svín , þinn faðir er a kona.
Hope that translates ok you useless sack of shit.
BTW go fuck yourself.
Sam King.
Funny Sven, a recent poll in a Swedish womens magazine voted Australian men the sexiest on the planet. Guess you guys arent doing the trick, although I always heard Europes male population were about as manly as the queen mum and hung like a pack of tic tacs. Hey, fuck being smart, were good looking and strong, and we never rolled over for the Nazis, thats good enough for me, and obviously your women.

ALL help for Schapelle Corby is great, and help is vital, however;
After talking to Michael, Schapelle’s brother this morning at the Corby shop; There’s now hundreds of Petitions on the web and it would help Schapelle a lot more if we all have the same petition giving explicit instructions to: Quash the Conviction and or Abrogate by Presidential or Government Enactment a FULL pardon. with the UN articles 10, and 11. included on the form. These UN conditions have not been met.

I appreciate your concern for Schapelle Corby.
But I can’t agree with your reasoning that no police officer, customs official etc would plant 4kg of marijuana on a traveller like her. Perhaps it was an official who chickened out about some mull they were going to traffick, and chose in panic to dump it into her bag just to get rid of it. I mean, who knows why people plant stuff? And look at those Australians on 60 minutes on Sunday who told stories of “stuff” that somehow got into their luggage.
As for the verdict, it is just total bulldust. The lack of fingerprinting the plastic bag for example; ok, it might have got contaninated but whose fault was that? The stupid customs officers who handled it! Yet, despite that act of carelessness by them, Judge Strait still expresses belief in their evidence against Schapelle.
While I deplore any violent or illegal actions by Australians, I support anyone who withdraws their money from the tsunami appeal. We have every right to send or not send moneys wherever we see fit. We gave the lives of our finest men and women for them, and all they will do for one of our citizens is to crucify her in a sham legal system that belongs in fawlty towers.

Andrew, as I aware that you have every right to send or not to send your money that we never ask it, I also have every right for myself to organize a boycott on Australian education so people don’t send their children to Australia. As you maybe not aware that the contribution of Indonesian students (excluding from AUSAID scholarships) there as much as AU$ 750 millions per year. In fact, Indonesian students are the largest proportion among many foreign students. And that amount of money predicted to be increased AU$ 1,3 billion per year for 2005/2006. I’m not counting money here, neither asking from you, I just hate your arrogance.
Schapelle should sack her legal team! They are clearly inadequate to deal with the trial
Also, i DO NOT believe boycotting bali will help her case at all!
hey peoples
schapelle corby has been found guilty of importing 4.1kg of marijuana into indonesia and has been sentenced to 20 years in jail, subject to appeal. Maybe all her supporters who proclaim her innocence should spare a thought for David Hicks, who has been held by the americans for about 3 years and has not been charged. Mabe if David Hicks was a beatiful young sheila, he’d get more public support. And i suppose, If miss Corby was just an ordinary looking Aussie bloke no one would give a crap about her.
Surely 4.1kg of marijuana would make a significant bulge in her bag…..it is very suss she did not declair it in Denpesar don’t you think??
I am really saddened by some of these comments on this site. The complete arrogance of some of you people. Boycotting Indonesia? Bali? Stopping sending money to the Tsunami fund? Wishing they had died in the Tsunami? You make me sick to my stomache.
The only information that you know about this case is what the newspapers have reported. Which most likely isn’t the full story. They print what you want to hear. Of course they are going to make it sound that the court system is treating her unfair and not listening to the full case.
The comment about the Judge not speaking English.. Why would the judge speak English?? Most of the people on this site obviously have never left their country.
Whether she is innocent or guilty I am not sure. I was not in the court and I don’t know the whole story. Obviously the court has listened to the evidence and has found that she was guilty.
G’Day Nick,
Pretty bland story in the Sunday Mail. you’d think that the people in QLD [and OZ] would make some kind of solidarity move in support of Corby.
Hope you can get that interview mate. Mind you, you would have to fight the hordes of bullshitting journos to get it!. At least when you interview somebody it’s the real thing.
News in Perth this morning that 8 more Aussies have been arrested (including a woman) on drug charges. Can you verify this mate?.
