Schapelle Corby the convicted drug trafficker from QLD had a brush with guards at Kerobokan jail recently. An Indonesian Parliamentary group was touring the jail with a posse of media and Corby got stroppy about having her photo taken. She ran to an empty room and hid, later being physically hauled from the room and screaming at the media people. I can understand that a person would not want to be an attraction, but in her position, the fact that media are interested is a good thing. A Scottish guy, who I talked to inside Kerobokan this year is all but forgotten about, he doesn't even get visitors.
Schapelle should treat the Indonesian media like pro sports player would. You have to face them after every game, you have to answer their stupid questions and look interested. It's a drag, but they are creating public interest which ultimately will help you get where you ant to go. Having said that I could see myself whacking one of them in the heat of the moment. Corby needs some coaching on how to play her cards.
It is weird hearing that the jail is easy to escape from and that the guards have to watch particular prisoners. Shouldn't the jail just be secure and impregnable? I passed the jail recently with Ika heading towards Puri Bunda hospital in Denpasar for a check up. Once again I am very thankful to be free and know that the people behind those walls must suffer some degree of mental torture, waking up each day and knowing they can't leave.
