Indonesian President SBY has been nominated for the Nobel Prize. He was nominated by US congessman Robert Wexler, who cited SBY as being the only Indonesian President who was able to tackle the Aceh problem among others.

SBY has been in power for a year and while some critics are not impressed with his progress you have to acknowledge some thnigs. These include: Indonesia’s infrastructure is substandard. Indonesia is extremely corrupt. The level of education across the board is low. Indonesia has massive logistical challenges. Indonesia has had a series of natural disasters.

SBY has figured out the challenges, spoken out about them and tried to fix the problems. That is a quantum leap from other presidents. It might be hard for some people to give a Nobel prize to a former general, but SBY has got his hands full and is taking on corrupt officials, JI (Jemaah Islamiyah) , rebellious provinces and economic problems.

I think he deserves some kind of prize.
