This morning I typed up a little guide to some of the accomodation options on Poppies Lane II in Kuta.
For the newcomer ( myself included when I came ) navigating your way through an airport and into an affordable place that’s not a disaster can be tricky.
I found that for most travelers the Poppies Lane area in Kuta seems to be a comfortable area. Located 2 miles from the airport with plenty on internet cafes, restaurants, ATM’s and bars it can make a good launching pad for exploring the island.
Here’s a look at some of the accomodation options.
After I got that report done I went over to Warung Gossip for a quick plate of nasi kuning ( yellow rice ), greens, potato item and their delicious beef. The beef is so tender and comes in a sauce you’d kill for! I don’t usually eat to much beef except at BBQ’s but I’ve got to have this stuff.
The servers were not too busy during my visit and Ari was getting something pulled out of her face.
Here at Internet Outpost I just met Porter the owner from New York. He has 11 others in Australia and NZ including the first in Cairns. We chatted about the concept and I agree that Internet Outpost is the only place in Kuta that is actually a travelers cafe.
Lovely day today and people are chatting about the surf as usual.

G’Day Mate,
The more fotos you post of Gossip, the more I like it!. I really gotta check that place out.
I thought your accommodation guide was top rate, and is certainly a good guide for those just arriving in Bali OR preparing plans to go to the island.
The er…face-picking foto was hilarious!. Maybe the two of them watched ‘Alien’ the night before!!.
Rumour has it Barrie is also the lead singer from “Midnight Oil” - bazz, can you comment?

Hi Duncan!,
I should be so lucky!. However Peter and I do have a lot in common eh.
We are both environmentalists, love ‘earth music’, both good looking AND have our own landing strip for inbound mossie flights!
