Samudra guilty in Denpasar Bali

The leader of the Bali Bombers, Iman Samudra was convicted and sentenced to death yesterday by the court in Denpasar.

I think most Balinese are happy about the outcome and we can look foward to rest of the crew being lined up and convicted as well.

Here’s an article on the security situation surrounding 9/11 here in SE Asia.

I’m planning my first trip to Bali in January. My travelling companions are now backing out because of the bombings, etc. Should I still make the trip? Should U.S. citizens be concerned? I do not want to spend 2 weeks in paradise being paranoid….

Hilarious letter in the Australian newspaper this morning…..

‘Samudra has brilliantly demonstrated one thing: Religion can melt the brain’

Peggy. You should do what you feel is right for you. If are going to feel paranoid maybe you should not come. On the other hand people here don’t seem concered and there’s no talk on the street about furthur problems.

I think Bali is generally safe. Who knows what will happen.
