Sailfin: Restaurant at The Wave, Kuta Bali

dessert042205.jpgThe Wave in the latest new thing in Kuta and it comprises a huge downstairs bar with dance floor, upstairs coffee and snack bar on the top balcony and inside Sailfin restaurant. I had to try this place out and since Sean has gone I went alone. The décor is white and purple, elegant with white table cloths. I sat by the window overlooking Kuta Beach and was served attentively by 2 female members of staff. One other table of Australian tourists seemed to be enjoying their lunch with much laughter.

The thing with Sailfin is the location. Right next to the beach and a stones throw from the Hard Rock Café at the bottom of Pantai Kuta. For beach goers wanting a coffee, snack, meal, drink or party this place is right there.

My Greek salad was small and tasty with plenty of balsamic vinegar. My Lebanese kebab was also small and tasty though the meat was not so detectable.

For dessert I chose mango daiquiri cheesecake, which was just the right size and peppered with unripe mango, local style. Sailfin seems a good place to come if you are on a diet, but not if you are planning to surf Uluwatu for the next 4 hours.

My bill including 2 beers was 186,000rp

G’Day Nick,

Candika & I went there not long after you mentioned the place to us. We only had a coffee at the open-air coffee place next to the restoran. Bloody expensive coffee!.

But it seems to be a nice place and for those wishing a bit of elegant dining, it would be a go.

We were also at the Wave coffee bar recently and had some coffee but contrary to what was said here, it was excellent coffee and very reasonably priced, I reckon. If you want expensive, go across the road to Starbucks.

I use to go to the wave almost everynight since i moved to bali. It’s a great place and the staff is so friendly, i’ve never eaten at the restaurant but i’ve drunk coffee and it is almost good, not the best in bali, but the best is the club, good music and great drink. if you go there ask for Topix (bar attender) and Diana (P.R. manager) they are both my friend, they will give you special treatment.
bye Max from Italy
