Ryan Van Der Berkmoes - LP’s guru on Bali
The recent Ubud Writers Festival which I missed apparently had some great speakers and a representative of Bali Discovery was there to check things out. While there the representative talked with LP Bali guide writer Ryan Ver Berkmoes. Ryan flies in once a year to update LP's guide and is an awesome 'parachuter' as LP founder Tony Wheeler calls him. He is great at gathering facts and details and I have heard from travelers here in Bali that the new LP guide is very accurate.
According to the Bali Discovery article the writers Festival, organized by Casa Luna ownerm Janet De Neefe, was a roaring success and the fear factor for Bali is incredibly low when you get here, and that is coming from a Yank who is bombarded with 'Muslim, Muslim, Muslim, Kill, Kill, Kill'. Next year I hope to actually make it the Writers Festival and hear some of the great authors who come to Bali. If I get to meet Ryan again I'll interview him for his thoughts a year later.
