Just got back from a great roadtrip to east Bali with a friend Miguel. I will be writing a full account of this tonight and you’ll all get to hear about it. Totally stunning part of the island, very relaxed and very village like. I’m coming back for sure and want to being Chris here if we have the time.
Met a couple of older Aussie guys who have stories that require an ‘X’ rating. The place where we stayed was close to a beach with a magnificent view of Mt. Agung, the highest volcano, breathtaking.
On the way back we managed to smash up our Toyoto Kijang on a truck. No one injured.
Am visiting a village in a hour. More reporting and photos on that one.

That is Australian Airlines - the new no frills dont care Qantas. Can use your FF but not accrue any and cant use the lounge if you happen to be a member.
The reason Garuda had a monopoly is because QF didn’t care.
Hope AP and Virgin help you guys out on the east coast.
cheers

Oh so you will, eh?
Well Mister, it is now morning the 19th (Bali time) so get writing.
Looking forward to it.
Hi Juliette,
Actually I live in Perth on the West coast and I suppose eventually Oz Airlines will get here. You are dead right about it being a ‘baby’ of Qantas and as far as I know it is a no frills airline. As far as FF points, I doubt that very much, but hey, you never know.
With no frills, it doesn’t really bother me cos it’s only a three and a half hour flight to DPS from Perth.
My source in the industry tells me that maybe, just maybe, Virgin will eventually jump on the Bali ‘gravy train’. That will be great for us travellers.
Qantas has always been the most expensive when flying to Bali. When Sempati had the run, it was great but big bad Tommy stuffed that up!. Merpati tried hard but bombed out also. So Garuda just kept on smiling.
Hi Barrie
don’t you like the new PARADISE AIRLINES especially from melbourne and
perth ?
Hi Detlef,
Funny you should mention that!. I will be returning to Bali in 11 days flying with Air Paradise and look forward to it very much.
I have always flown with Garuda, but this time I have decided to support the Balinese airline AND will continue doing so.
From what I’ve been told, they are excellent carriers.
Hi Nick,
Look forward to the post.
News for those in Oz planning to go to Bali. Australian Airlines will be launching its new service to Bali on Juni 27th BUT it is only for Sydney/Melbourne. Departs Sydney 16.30hrs flying direct to Melbourne and then leaves for Bali at 19.00hrs.
From what I saw of the news release, it will be planning flights from other cities, and eventually direct flights from both Sydney and Melbourne.
Great to see another new airline supporting Bali. Don’t know as yet the prices but it’s good that Garuda are having their monopoly challenged. Good for us travellers!!.
