Today Barrie, Chandika and I visited what seemed like a dozen temples in fairly hot conditions. I am in Internet Outpost having just gobbled a plate of satay chicken at Bamboo Corner.
I took a fair few photos and will put them up tomorrow. Barrie was our knowledgeable guide which was good because our driver Wayan had no idea where he was going.
There are some temples and statues here dating back to the 11th century, but ask many locals and they haven’t a clue about the smaller ones. Barrie was last here 10 years go and things have definitely changed around the more popular ones.
Here at Internet Outpost its pretty packed! Ika and Endah are both sick and the owner, Hendra is working. Connectivity is much better today.

G’day Nick,
Geez mate, I’m still recovering. Settled for an early night after Candika gave me a full body massage with Chinese oil and a delightful foot massage.
Catch up with ya today ‘somewhere down the road’.
Nick & everybody else,
Silly me forgot to tell you about this restoran that we went to yesterday on our road trip.
The restoran is located on the left hand side of the road in between Bedulu and Goa Gadjah.
For those expats who know this area, the place used to be the nicest and simplest little warung with great food. However, for reasons unknown, the owners of this new restoran have virtually built on top of the old one. Signs of the old warung are still visible.
The old warung used to have a strange toilet in the rear wheras when you had finished your business, you had to be careful leaving otherwise you would have fallen into the deep ravine!.
The new restoran affords the same views to the ravine and the river flowing through, but has a small brick wall to deter its patrons from ‘Arak suicide’.
Talisman Restoran
Bedulu Road West
Extreme opulence geared towards the tourist market. This was evident by the number of Bis Parawisata (Tourist Bus) parked outside.
Although the seating area is extensive, when we arrived it was agreed that a table near the ‘wall’ was more delightful as it afforded us a view of the river gorge and a cooling breeze.
Nick chose the Ayam Pelalah (Rp29,000)ble portion of Chicken simmered in Bumbu (spices and sauces) and served with Nasih Putih. I suppose the smile on his face meant he enjoyed it or was it that nice Korean girl that kept smiling at him!.
Our driver for the day decided on Satay Lilit (Rp27,000) Satay sticks seasoned in Balinese sauce and spices and seved with a protion of Nasih Putih.
Candika went for the old faithful – Nasi Goreng Istemewa (Rp40,000) and for the price, Candika thought it was highly overpriced as she commented that she had had better.
I was smart and enjoyed a Fruit Salad. When it was placed in front of me, I strained to find the fruit. At Rp17,000 it was highly overpriced as the pieces were far too small and inadequate.
If your aversion is towards opulent dining, then this is your place.

Barrie,
You rock…I love your reviews.
G’Day Sean,
Thanks for the compliment!. Actually I found a nice little gem of a place tonight and of which I will write about tomorrow.
Barrie,
I don’t know about nice Korean girl but I like the waitress at your hotel ( has 2 sisters! ).
By the way why don’t you tell everyone about the pool scene at your hotel?
G’Day Nick,
Yes indeed those gorgeous three look and most probably are extremely delicious in more ways than one. When you are ready then I can introduce you.
Aaahh the pool scene!. Well it’s like this: the scenery has changed and the ‘players’ are multiplying and integrating in such a manner that it has become quite hilarious.
Of course I will tell everybody…eventually! (He, he…!)
