Meeting the lady who has her photo on our homepage was an honor, especially as she is the wife of a friend of mine.
Priska’s family originally come from Java but now live in Sanur on the south coast.
I arrived in Kuta Square looking for a place called Rudy’s, or so I thought. Not finding any place with that name I figured Raja’s might be it or at least a place to step out of the sun while I was waiting for a call. After ordering a lemon tea I was approached by Priska who spotted me, she was already at
Raja’s with Emma her daughter and her brother Agus.
We caught up the latest news from California and talked about how Bali is changing. Priska noted how more Indonesians are acting like foreigners and in fact Bali probably receives more Indonesian tourists from Java each year.
Priska and Mike live in Grass Valley California and own BaliSierra with a store front.
Priska has been doing a Balinese food business and caters to people’s parties. It’s going well but is hard work. She was explaining that the import-export business requires not only promotional talent, but organisational ability and Mike and her are figuring out where they want to go with it.
Agus would love to visit Grass Valley but was rejected immediately for a tourist visa. Indonesian men have a very hard time getting into the US right now. Hope he gets to visit at some later stage.
Priska owns a house in Ubud and told me I was welcome to stay anytime after she has taken off, I guess Agus is the caretaker.
