The last week we have been taking our time to hold planning meetings for 2004, enjoy some of the local things that the Kuta area has to offer and see some of the island.
Photos have been fairly scarce so here is a look at the type of things we’ve seen recently.
First off no trip to Bali should go without a visit to Jimbaran bay to sit under the stars and eat grilled fish. The wandering mistrels will liven up the scene with some well known tunes.
Our meetings at the Komala Pantai Hotel in Legian were pleasant and productive. We enjoyed the buffet breakfasts and the friendly staff.
I’ve been raving about east Bali for ages and Sean wanted to check it out for himself. After a night spent in Lovina on the north coast we drove to Amed and took in the rugged coastline and string of bays and small fishing villages. Our place at Good Karma was simple and very relaxing. Leave the phone at home and don’t tell anyone you’re coming.
Playing pool with a million dollar view as the sun sets is something that looks almost unreal. Our walk up the hill trying to find our feet was interesting too.
The Pavillion offered us a chance to show the locals that white men really can’t dance and also for Sean and Chris to buy a Cuban cigar. I declined cos I hate the stink…I don’t hate smokers, I hate the fact that they smoke.
Seraya Shores in Ujung was a blast, tropical setting, not much to do but enjoy the environment and catch up on some reading. A western quality place with Balinese touches like my shower will be the things I remember.
One incident that I wasn’t enjoying while it was happening was the Kijang down the hill afternoon. Still it shows that whatever happens if you keep your cool, don’t panic and try to communicate you’ll get where you want to go.
I hope this has illuminated some of the commentary we’ve posted recently.

Coming at the 66 club at 1 am and finding the nice swimming pool is an experience. When leaving don’t forget that motorbikes can also bring you home for “tsip” price as they say…
I tried it … you are lucky guys…
Great photos, as usual. I cracked up at the first one - under the stars - no way.
Playing pool in the midst of such views would definitely distract me from the game.
Thanks for the words and the shots.
One thought kept going through my head as I read your post and looked at the pictures: “Gee, rough life!”
Where do I sign up?
Hey, I finally uploaded my travelogue from my trip to Bali, if you want to check it out. It’s at: http://www.worldwidemike.com

Brillant photos. Nice try at a Charlie’s Angels pose and Sean and Chris just going for it on the dance floor, outstanding.
Thanks for sharing the photos guys! Looks like you’re having an awesome time while I’m freezing me arse off here in Chicago. And it’s true - you white boys CAN’T dance!

No picture = No stories….Remember!
Nick I was so disapointed with the “my shower” photo. Thought I was at least going to see you in it.
Fabulous post/pics… am still giggling at those white men dancin’ shots…
Oh my…
I’ve never been interested in going to Bali [possibly the only Australian on the planet who hasn't!], but… you’ve revealed a lovely side I’ve never envisaged…
Hmmm… maybe next year…
Soon-to-pack Ging…
Great pix.
No I’m even more determined to visit than before!
