Big surf has been the go over the last couple of days accompanied by torrential rain.
That hasn’t stopped people going to the beach, just not any to sunbathe.
I passed Kuta Beach and saw plenty of short term domestic tourists strolling around and locals hanging out watching the waves and hoping for a quick sale.
Pantai Kuta is on the bemo route and these crazy vehicles swing by, toot their horn and pack as many people in as possible. I have never seen a westerner get in one at the beach and this form of transport isn’t even an option for most tourists. Still its an integral part of the economy out here with many trips ( these folks are probably staying overnight in Denpasar) using them to facilitate local access.
The bottom of Jl. Legian is always a hive of activity and the construction on Jl. Legian, Pantai Kuta and Imam Bonjol make it even more so.
Poppies Lane II in Kuta has started to get dug up so we can look forward to traffic disruptions for the next month or 2. Putu, the bartender at Taman Sari told me its been a quiet day, “maybe people like to stay in hotel because its dingin (cold).” she said. Okay Putu 85f is cold, I understand.
I bumped into Josh and the crew here in Kuta and am meeting them for dinner at Rumors in Seminyak tonight before some of them head out on another surf tour to Sumbawa.
