Overnight trip to East Bali

Just back from a wonderful overnight trip to East Bali with Barrie, Candika and Barrie’s mum.

Living in the Kuta / Seminyak area one can often loose track of what the ‘real’ Bali is and why people come here. Every time I get out east I always tell myself I must do this more often. Barrie has been such a great supporter of Baliblog that I had to get him out there with Candika and his mother Mildred.

My loose plan was to hit Tirtagangga, then head to Seraya Shores, the guest house on the east coast close to Ujung that we really like, exploring more of the coast the next day.

I’m pretty shaged right now after driving around east Bali bfor the last 8 hours, trying my best not to have a head-on collision with all the local maniacs out there or put us into a ravine. I will be more into the writing mode tommorrow, but let me say we saw some lovely places and East Bali rocks.

Surprisingly we haven’t had very much rain yet this this which means clear blue skies at least in the lowlands. Eastern Karangasem province is very dry right now in places but there are places that get feed by a river and appear to be oasis in the midst of dry scrub.

Barrie and I will be telling our tale shortly.
