Off the hook, on the hook - SBY cancels Suharto pardon

Indonesian President SBY has dropped plans to pardon former President Suharto. SBY appointed State Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra, to look into Suharto’s history of wealth building and decide if charges should be brought.

Suharto and his family have a massive fortune, and Mahendra used to be his speech writer. I tell you, its not what you know, its who you know. But wait a minute! Former army general SBY is turning into the ‘Indonesian Gorbachev’ and the recipe for ‘nasi perestroika’, includes making life hard for wrong doers.

SBY is not exactly saying Suharto is in trouble, all he is saying is that he is delaying going forward, which at aged 84, is as good as a pardon for Suharto.
