umbrellas061105.jpgSaturday morning I heard a bang-bang-clatter-clatter coming from the main road and knew it was the continuing odalan ceremony that has been going on here. Assembling my bag of tricks, including camera I was about to head down there when my phone rang. "Hi Nick this is Terry from Australia, I meet you a couple of year ago." I knew exactly who it was and we agreed to meet right away. Terry was at Bintang supermarket and I headed that way on my bike.

Coming out of my alley I saw that Jl. Seminyak had been blocked off and at the junction with Jl. Dhyana Pura a Balinese ceremony was in progress. A bamboo structure brightly decorated measuring maybe 4 meters in height was placed in the street and a Balinese pedanda (priest) was giving blessings. Maybe 130 Balinese locals in traditional attire were sitting in the road taking part in the ceremony.

I zoomed up to the corner, stopped with my engine still running and tried to squeeze of a couple of shots. I then found I had only 2 batteries in my camera, the others were recharging. Oh well never mind, there will be other times. Quickly pulling a U-turn I zoomed down the street and met up with Terry.
