Here in Seminyak the weather has gotten a tad streamy of late. The wet season is around the corner and the obvious rise in humidity is accompanied by the occasional darkening of the skies and rain drops. Still the blistering sun that most people associate with Bali shines most of the day. I just bought a tube of Banana Boat factor 50 with vitamin E and aloe vera. The price was 117,000rp from Circle K and should last me a few monthes.
When Ika and I met Steve in Lanai yesterday there was a pleasant breeze, but when I returned home at around 11.30pm I was sweating. A look at the precipitation for the year will show a sharp rise in November and December. If you are coming to Bali for the first time, realise that parts of the island get more rain than others. Generally the SW part of Bali recieves a lot of rain, the NE part the least. On sunny days down at the beach it can be cool, cloudy and raining in the highlands. In fact from this point on if you are planning to ride a motorbike through Kintamini or Bedugal you should bring raingear. The ponchos they sell here work the best for motorbikes, as they allow you stay cool and dry. Last night Steve said to me "Barry reckons you always wear your 'racing gloves' when you go on a roadtrip in a car." That's funny! I'm not much of a racer but wear gloves and long sleeves for sun protection.
As far a Indonesia is concerned the further west you go the more rain you get. Jakarta gets more rain than Bali. The further east you go the drier it gets, with places like Flores being pretty dry.
Here is our 10 day weather forecast.
