Internet access in Kuta today has be absolutely lousy. Not just one place either.
I met up with Armadi Komang downtown at 9am to collect our new t-shirts. These ones are lady style after all the requests I got last time. These shirt come in medium and large but in reality they are XXS and S.
Armadi came round to Internet Outpost with her friend as I was calling her and we swapped the shirts for cash. I made 100 for 2,100,000rp ( 21,000 each, about $2.50 a pop ).
I gave 6 to Armadi as she said she had 6 friends who are always out on the street downtown. I also gave 2 to Kadek at Okee House Travel agent on Poppies II and 1 each to 4 staff at Cotton Club shop on Pantai Kuta. They seemed to like them.
The t-shirt vendors on Jalan Legian got a medium each to hang up, hope they get some attention.
I spent a few hours today investigating guest houses on Poppies II and will do a guide on these soon. There are plenty of budget options here with close access to the eating deals of Poppies Lane, the nightlife of Jl. Legian and the beach.
Seems like there are a lot of Aussies down in Kuta right now. I’ve seen charachters in various stages of drunkeness and couples just arrived. The sun being so strong out here its amazing how, many people stroll around with no sunscreen or hat, I’ve seen some toasted folks walking around.
Now at Global looking forward to an exciting night of typing.

Hi Nick,
You are doing a great job as i keep coming back to read your posts and view the pics of your daily adventures. Its funny, was glad to get home, not glad about returning to work and now check out Baliblog on a regular basis! Keep up the good ‘work’.
Cheers,
James
I really enjoy baliblog again - looks
like Tracey.D. has arrived .
G’Day Mate,
I think that was the one thing that irked me when I was there. About the Aussies walking around with a Bintang in hand I mean. Okay, we Ozzies are well known as beer-guzzlers,but hey, have some respect for the locals.
There is more than plenty of places to go and enjoy a drink.
Detlef…… YEP I have arrived & am loving it, trying to think of ways my boss would understand I was not ready to return!!!!!
Off to Bali tomorrow, this will be my 19th or 20th trip. Everyone needs to keep going back, supporting the locals, basking in the Culture and honoring the memory those Indonesians, Australians and all other people who died last year. Bali is a haven of Beauty and Life, enjoy it and respect the locals and their culture and sensibilities.
One week till i arrive in bali for my 16th trip since 79. I still get excited about seeing that beautiful beach and immersing myself in the rich culture. Will be an emotional first visit to the bomb site after so many good times at both pubs.I also feel it is important to show support and respect for the wonderful local people who amongst such blatant commercialism and treatment from us beer guzzling aussies still maintain a rich and meaningful cultural and religious connection with this beautiful island.Nick this is a terrific service you provide for the first timer. Barrie you sound like you love the place more than me. Keep up the reviews as you seem to find restorans and bars new to me.
Going to Bali for the first time Jan 2004. Must be the only couple in WA that haven’t been to this place so took the plunge. Love to hear from anyone re the things to see and the thing to watch out for.

Hi all,
I am planning to go to Bali during Easter for 2 weeks (probably arrive Friday 2nd April). Firts timer. What hotels/guest houses (safe and comfortable) do you recommend. Food places that do not give me diarrhoea? Places to go. Places not to go to. Dangerous places. etc etc. I might be going to an area called Singaraja.
Please email me directly too, as I seldom use forums.
