New Pres. saying the right things in Jakarta Indonesia

Indonesia’s new President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has been saying the right things during his brief time in office.

I know talk is cheap and some of the people I have talked to here in Bali tell me ‘they all say the same thing when they become President’.

That’s probably true but at least this guy seems to have an idea of what direction the country should go in.

Bali’s tourist numbers are promising and if things continue there’s no reason not to feel confident about 2005. As the report says the numbers are climbing and we can also look forward to the next shift in gear when the higher spending tourists return.

I get the impression people feel bullish about Bali. Land prices always remained healthy even right after the bombing and new warungs, shops, nightclubs and restaurants are opening all the time. Barrie was telling me the place has developed a lot since he was here over a year ago.

By the way I managed to inform Barrie of a quirk in Bahasa Indonesia, probably the only time I’ll get to do that. We were in a warung and Barrie mentioned he was ‘kenyang’ meaning ‘full’. In Java that meaning is understood but here in Bali it means….Tracey maybe you could explain.

Today I did a review on the Diwangkara Holiday Villa in Sanur. I chatted to manager Agung at the beachside restaurant about the hotel, the new Pres. and the world. We agreed that politicians tend to be corrupt where ever they and we hope for the best.

We’re going on a road trip tommorrow in the area along the coast road to Karangasem hitting Goa Lawar (the bat cave), Gianyar and Bangli. My knowledge of Gianyar and Bangli is virtually nil so this will be great for me. Report coming soon.

It means an erection!

Now Gent’s… Please get back to the topic at hand which is promoting Bali!!!

If you want to say you are full (in the tummy!) you must say ‘perut kenyang, for the other you could say (over a romantic dinner perhaps) Celak Kenyang!

Why isn’t it allowing what I wrote? Where is my first explanation? Anyways, it means a happy snag!

I’ve had a similar situation Tracey where the first post hasn’t appeared until I’ve posted another and then they both turn up. At first I thought, don’t say that Nick is checking out what we are saying and deleting posts which are not considered suitable.

Looks like the site has a gremlin Nick. If a computer technician can’t fix it, maybe you should call in a traditional Balinese healer!

I think the gremlin is teaching me a lesson! The first post hasn’t turned up. Ah well, try again.

Bazza, matey…. I think you were eating & so you had perut kenyang! Atleast I hope so.. Not sure what you’ve got, perhaps a daily photo & we can assist????
