Wednesday morning in Seminyak I got an email from friends in Oregon. My friend Jeffrey Skolnick had a massive heart attack and died. I met Jeffrey while working at the Athletic Club in Eugene Oregon with his daughter, Brianna and son Devin. The Skolnicks are a tremendous family, loving each other, appreciating time together and enjoying nature. Jeffrey’s wife Barbara started a alpaca ranch which is now very successful.
Visiting the ranch I’d find Jeffrey in his cherry tomato garden, spreading alpaca manure and introducing me to his flock. “Nick just check out these beautiful peaceful animals,” he’d say, as his pulse clicking along at about 2 beats per minute.
What has this got to do with Bali? No much probably, but its going on in my life and I’m here. Jeffrey was a person who valued the good things in life and lived towards that, not just giving it lip service like 99% of people. Above is my last photo with him taken about 3 weeks ago.
We’ll miss him.

Cheers. I just called them from a wartel and they are totally broken up. Great people and I know they will be okay.
Sad about Jeffrey. You mentioned him and his family often - with admiration, with love, with fond memories. The loss will be tremendous for those deeply affected by his life.
G’Day Nick,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I know how you feel mate. I lost a good friend last year.
