This morning I went down to Cafe Moka in Seminyak for a change and immediately bumped into another expat friend. We got into talking about his website, who can host it, which host is better than the other, you know, the last kind of stuff you want to talk about when all you want is breakfast. Since Moka put their prices up a while ago they have not been as busy as they used to be. Still they do have nice bread and cakes and its home base for many expats. My friend had an American breakfast (eggs, bread, fruit, juice, coffee) myself the Trekking (fruit, meusli, cake, juice, coffee). He's a pretty good guy so I paid and my bill was something like 65,000rp. That's around $7 and for an American, okay for a breakfast tab.
Lunchtime I rode over to a tiny warung in Seminyak for a nasi bungkus (take away order). My packet included, chicken, ikan laut (sea fish), 2 kinds of veg and a ton of rice) 4,000rp.
Its night and day over here with prices and if you are on a bare bones budget eat local.

G’day Nick,
Damn good advice. In fact, for anybody coming to Bali, eat the local food ie. Indonesian food. get the ‘taste’ of Bali as well as the sight of the beautiful island.
Travelling is all about sights, sounds and smells. Experience it all. Interact with the locals and eat with them.
Besides, it works out much cheaper as Nick mentioned!
