You can’t ever accuse Indonesian President SBY of trying to take the easy route. His government’s latest plan is to fingerprint all students at Muslim boarding schools.
To an outsider this seems like a great idea, considering most of the terrorist recruits around the world seem to come from these pressure cookers. The government has already been communicating with Muslim clerics to speak out again terrorism. This latest move will not be popular with them, as they see it as being singled out. I get singled out every time I travel to the US, with a whole battery of scans, prints and questions. I’m a law abiding person who has less of an association to terrorism than any of those guys.
We don’t want a police state, but we don’t want any more bombs.
