Here is Kerobokan its a pleasant 85f and the sun is shining.
Global Xtreme is quite busy with expats and other Euro trash typing away about their holidays and activities in Bali. I am moving slower today than normal because of a late night with Rob and Nick in Seminyak. Their wives are coming out today so naturally they wanted freedom to end with a bang.
I was in Internet Outpost around 8.30pm when I phoned Nick to see where they were. “Sorry mate I’ll have to call back I don’t know where we are or the name of the restaurant.” Nick said. Five minutes later Rob named a place called the Asi on Poppies I and I rode over. Walking around the restaurant there was no sign of either of them. ‘Are these Aussies directionally challenged like me?’ I wondered. While there I ran into Deb from Alaska and invited her to my Sunday bbq.
After a few minutes Rob and Nick showed up and we agreed to meet up at Santa Fe ( pretty obvious eh?) in Seminyak. There was some dance event going on there and the place was quite busy and after a pizza (32,000 for a medium regular type with eggplant, goat cheese etc. ) and a couple of Bintangs we got comfortable. Nick’s head seemed like it was on a swivel with all the attractive ladies who were showing up.
I managed to pick their brains on motorbike technique since both of them ride 1000cc powerbikes back in Sydney. Nick came off of his a couiple of months ago going 60mph but said it was no big deal other than the scratched paintwork.
Nick gave me the tip that I should ‘look through the corners’ rather than where I’m going. I’ll give that a try but if I ran into a bus I’ll blame Nick.
Over the street from Santa Fe, Space was looking empty and after making sure the guys knew what ‘Q’ in Q Bar stood for we paid a visit to Tu Bar for a beer, which is located at the end of that strip that includes Spy Bar and Liquid. Tu Bar has a benchong out front trying to lure confused customers in, a fuzzball table downstairs and a pool table on the second floor. I headed straight for the pool table but some Indonesian tourists beat me to it. We had a beer and while we were there a truckload of Chinese Indonesians piled in. The place filled up in a hurry and we decided to continue on.
Spy Bar still wasn’t cooking so Liquid was the go. Sitting at the bar it didn’t take long before Nick was attracting the attention of some finely dressed ladies and we had some fun joking around. I asked Nick if Liquid was good compared to Sydney and he said Sydney never gets that busy on a Wednesday. Liquid plays a variety of techno whatever and last night were playing some awesome scateboard video of some guys in a parking structure. By the time I left at 1.30am the place and in fact the whole street was jamming…it felt like Saturday night!
Today I’m dragging and don’t know how expats can go out to these places in the week. If you want to be in the middle of the party you basically have to be there from 12-3am.
All the places I mentioned don’t have any rules as far as dress, smoking, drinking, or cover charges. Only last night the dance area of Santa Fe required a ticket fior the special event which lasted a couple of hours, then back to normal.
