Monkey Do, Monkey Don't

There was an article in the Bali Discovery newsletter that is worth mentioning. It concerns the Simian Foamy virus. As the article states, it is best to be aware, when travelling in Bali, not to allow the monkeys crawl all over you. A scratch could possibly cause the infection.

Literally thousands of visitors to Bali visit the Sangeh Monkey Forest, the monkey forest at Ubud, Alas Kedaton and other places where monkeys are prevalent. Another place in Bali often visited is Pura Uluwatu – the cliff temple south of Kuta on the Bukit Peninsula. Here, the monkeys are quite vicious and so avoid any contact with them.
