Saturday evening was my chance to finally meet up with Tracey, the person we have all suffered with in her quest to get back to Bali.
Tracey is over here to marry her boyfriend Gede and has been super busy in his village helping with the wedding preparations.
She sms’d me, I returned the message with a phone call and we agreed to meet at Warung 96 on Jalan Benesari. Tracey was actually at the airport picking up the rest of her family who had come out for the occassion.
Tracey’s mum and auntie were in good spirits although were a little bit annoyed that a customs man took one of their bottles of red wine of them, he’d wouldn’t even take backhander.
Among the other people at Warung 96 were Dave, Jackie and Pedro from Melbourne. We quickly got to know each other and Tracey told me how in years past she’d save up for 6 months so she and a friend could spend 8 monhs in Bali.
Tracey and Gede have a daughter Madison who is everyone’s favourite. Gede presented me with a wedding invitation for Monday in Tuban at the families place…hope they serve babi guling.
Tracey works for Cadbury’s in Melbourne and Gede will move there with her. She told me they’d love to get a place out in Karangasem in east Bali eventually, although Gede’s family will give them some land in Tuban.
After a hour or so we headed out to Santa Fe bar in Dhyana Pura, minus Tracey and Gede who had other duties to take care of. When we arrived at 9.50pm the place was semi full but after another hour it picked up and the band came out at 11pm.
At around 12 we moved on down the street to Liquid and then Spy Bar. The smoke was really getting to me but I tried my best to ignore it with the help of a couple of arak madu’s.
Pedro, who looks about 18 is actually 33 and is a Bali veteren. Dave and Jackie met while doing a caving trip back in Australia. Very neat people indeed and I’ll be photoing everyone wrapped in sarongs tommorrow.

Yes Tracey - congratulations and ditto on the wishes that Barrie sends!
Barrie, Sean…
Thanks guys!!!
Maddison is already packing bags & putting her “board shorts” aside for her next trip to Bali…. I think she has become addicted… We are already worried about how she will be saying in about 12 or so years time, that she wants to go to her family in Bali for Christmas holidays etc…. Her & a group of other wild 16 - 17 year olds!!
They better have a BIg supply of Bintang’s if she is anything like either of us!!!
This trip aws certainly different for us, a lot more family orientated & spiritual, very sedate compare to years gone by, but ever so enjoyable!!!!
Hi Tracey!,
At long last I can put your face to the many comments. I never realised you were so young!. Madison is an absolute cutie and indeed you are blessed.
I would like to wish you and Gede a long life together full of devoted love. All the best!
