After a late night of typing I was late getting started today and after packing my computer headed down to Cafe Moka of Jalan Seminyak for a Bali coffee, Danish roll, Choclatine and carrot juice.
As soon as I walked in I saw our friend Mark from NYC who is an antique finder and seller. He has been back in Bali for about a month after going home for the first time in years He told me he went out to Santa Fe bar last night and saw an amazing Balinese rock band with a 12 year old kid playing lead guitar. “I wanted to hit the little bugger, he had feeling and everything” Mark said.
We were joined by Miguel who has had a roller coaster love life experience in the last couple of weeks and finally by Patrice from France who was making a trip down from Lovina on the north coast hoping to sell some artwork.
Moka is a good networking place and these guys all knew other people there.
I did a hotel report on the Saphir Mabisa hotel in Legian which is located next ot the Jayakarta. The hotel’s literature describes it as a ’boutique 2-star hotel’ whatever that means. It wasn’t bad and I asked a shy Japanese couple their opinion. I asked what could be added to satisfy their needs and they replied their needs wre already met.
Barrie and I bumped into Debra from last night at Internet Outpost as well as a fellow from Brighton who is enjoyng himself in Bali surfing partying, Barrie got an interview out of him.
One of the guys working here faithfully showed up in his Baliblog shirt so I ran upstairs and got him and the other fellow ( Lai ) a new one each. Lai put his on over his work hirt and I asked asked if he was panas ( hot ) and he said sedikit ( a bit ). That’s the spirit.
