Meeting Michelle in Santa Fe Bali

Tuesday afternoon Ika, Jevon and I met Bali newcomer Michelle in Santa Fe, in Seminyak. Michelle is from N. Carolina (originally NYC) and is on a 2 week trip to Bali. I get a lot out of meeting people on their first trip here to see their impressions.

Michelle is staying at the Puri Cendana hotel at the quiet end of Jl. Dhyana Pura. For $30 a night she get a big room, hot water, swimming pool and friendly staff. Her luggage got lost on the trip from the US and she has made do on the clothes she packed in her carry on luggage. The good thing over here is you don’t need a lot.

Jevon bounced up and down on Michelle’s lap and I did my best to help her plan her trip to East Bali. She’ll probably rent a car and driver and check out Amed and the surrounding area. East Bali, the far East tip particularly, can be arid, but during the wet season is fertile and green, perfect for photos.

My camera ran out of power so no photo of Michelle. We’ll see her in a few days. She’s deciding whether to spend New Years in sleepy Ubud, go the lounge scene somewhere or rock on at Dhyana Pura.
