I was sitting in Internet Outpost this afternoon talking to Paul our surf reporter when Ika, our #1 employee said “Nick, someone here for you.’
I looked up and saw he healthy face of Josh Grillo re ently arrived from Samoa. Josh is a native of Washington DC and has been out in San Diego for while doing tv work.
We drank a beer, talked about travel and his upcoming 2 monthes in Bali. Josh has already rented a motorbike and is planning on exploring the island and Lombok and Sumbawa too.
I took him around the corner to Poppies I to a local warung where the food is good and cheap. I could tell Josh was still spinning fron being in Asia and was commenting on how crazy the street life here is, with a whole assortment of things going on and a ton of items for tourists.
Here again at I/O and Josh is dealing with his e-mail.
Will hang out for sure during his stay and get to hear his stories.

Yeah we listened to Rush. Its preet loud stuff and we were energized so it went over well.
On Poppies II there are a few places selling CD’s, top 40 mostly, though I haven’t shopped around for anything while here.
DVD’s. They have ‘classics’ like Godfather, Bladerunner, Goodfellas and even some stuff from th Humprfey Bogart era if you look around.
Also software and games abound. Adobe Photoshop7 25,000rp.
I’m not saying I support this or don’t support this. Its up to each person to make their decision.
*Phew*… for a minute there I was worried you meant Rush Limbaugh! Of all things to listen to on an island…
Hmmm… Casablanca on pirate? hmmm…
Josh Grillo sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to hear more about that man. He sounds like he has his head together and is having a beautiful experience there. I bet the friends and family that love him miss his energy like CRAZY!!!!
Kisses,
Rachel
every you look in the original is very hard I guess
Nick – you said recently you were listening to Rush on a recent road trip.
The hairy American band? Surely not.
Can you pls tell me what’s the range of pirate CDs like in Kuta/DPS etc?
I imagine the usual chart/dance/rap selection is available but what about slightly less obvious stuff, in particular World Music (esp African, Arabic etc) and jazz.
Similar question on DVDs.
Apart from recent Hollywood stuff, what about classic films. No I don’t mean things like The Matrix from 4 yrs ago, I mean Hitchcock, Cary Grant and other boring stuff.
Don’t go to any trouble but, if you’re passing a stall, maybe post back re what’s on offer.
No rush on this & thanks.
