Meeting a Seminyak expat in Bangkok Thailand

Living in Seminyak Bali my daily routine has a good amount of flexibility, I can visit places that are new and also the places that are familiar.

A couple of the spots I tend to hit quite often are Café Moka on Jalan Seminyak and Global Xtreme internet café on Jalan Raya Kerobokan.

These 2 places attract many expats living here and I often bumped into a fellow called Cecil from San Francisco. Cecil told me he was living in Asia shopping for artwork to decorate the house he was going to build. He spent last year shopping for beams and doors, this year he’s looking for patio furniture and ornaments.

Cecil told me he was moving to Thailand to be with his girlfriend and to shop up there. I never thought I’d ever see him again but one morning in Bangkok while in Starbucks on Sukhumvit with Sean, I looked up and who was sitting drinking a coffee? None other than Cecil. I introduced him to Sean and to another American acquaintance and we talked for a couple of hours about living in Asia, personal histories and life in general.

Cecil has lived an extremely colorful life growing up on the streets of San Francisco from age 15 and has turned things round to be living the life many people would envy.

Cecil was a very familiar face in Global and Moka and I’m glad to report to all the people who knew him that he’s doing fine.
