What do most people want out of a restaurant in Bali? They want a pleasant atmosphere that is classy but not pretentious, good food that they can relate to but that is still interesting, friendly staff, portions that are the right size and overall value for money.
One place that encapsulates this for me is Kori Restaurant on Poppies Lane II in Kuta. Kori is handy for the budget crowd staying in the area and a trip here for dinner is fun for the people staying in the luxury hotels out in Nusa Dua. I visited Kori with Sean, Ika and Ningrum and we enjoyed it. For starters we ordered bruschetta which came with 4 dips, and a mixed satay tray that came with rice and some vegetables.
For our main courses the girls ordered off the Indonesian section of the menu, Sean had a fantastic seafood dish with 2 skewers hanging from a rack which contained massive jumbo shrimp and tuna. I chose the Bombay curry, which had a delicate creamy sauce with cilantro (coriander). For drinks we had a couple of watermelon juices and 3 Coronas. The bill was 550,000rp, which is affordable for people on vacation wanting a good night out. The most costly item was the seafood rack and there are main courses available for under 50,000rp.
Kori Restaurant has a cigar lounge and pool-room and when live music is not playing relaxing jazz completes the atmosphere. My 3-Best Restaurant Guide to Kuta will give an in-depth review.

G’day Nick,
Agreed. The Kori is a top-notch yummie place to feast. What blows me out is just how quiet it is in there once you enter off the mayhem of Poppies Lane 2.
