Interview with repeat Bali visitor Chris from UK-part I

Chris O'Neill is a 40 year old British traveler who has been to Bali a couple of times before. Here is the first part of an interview with him on his thoughts about Bali.

Baliblog:
When you decided to come out to Bali how did you go about looking for airline tickets?
Chris:
Surfing the net. I went a lot of websites, over about 3 weeks.

Baliblog:
Was the internet a better place to look than newspapers or local travel agents?
Chris:
I didn't even bother looking in newspapers or travel agents. It was much easier to do it at home.

Baliblog:
So you paid online?
Chris:
Yes.

Baliblog:
You thought you were flying on Garuda, but you ended up flying Malaysian (The flight is advertised as Garuda but Malaysian do the fulfillment.
Chris:
Yeah, I kind of expected it to be Malaysian. I've bought tickets with Garuda twice before and both times I've ended up with parts or all of it being on Malaysian Airlines.

Baliblog:
Did you flights come with a hotel?
Chris:
No. I looked at combinations of the hotel and airfare and I was trying to get a hotel close to Seminyak. The only combinations I could find were with hotels out in Nusa Dua or Sanur. So I thought I would get the air ticket and hotel separately.

Baliblog:
Did you have a layover in KL?
Chris:
About 2 hours.

Baliblog:
What to you think of Malaysian Airlines?
Chris:
Very good. I would fly with them anytime.

Baliblog:
Was the food good?
Chris:
It was okay yeah. For airline food of course.

Baliblog:
How easy was the VOA (visa on arrival) process here in Bali?
Chris:
Probably the easiest I've had in the 3 times I've been here. The Malaysian Airlines plane from KL was half full, so when we got off we went straight through immigration and customs.

Baliblog:
Stepping off the plane to getting out of the airport, how long did that take?
Chris:
I would say 10 minutes maybe.

Baliblog:
Have you noticed any changes in Bali since you have been back?
Chris:
Not really. There's a few new bars and things. It just seems quiet compared to the last 2 times I have been here. Maybe it's a dip in the season, its seems quiet.

Baliblog:
Are you planning to do any shopping while you are out here.
Chris:
Just to get a load of knock-off DVD's, maybe a few t-shirts. No big items I plan to get.
