Interview with expat hotel manager gives insight into Bali

Living in Bali for a while and then leaving, gives people a great insight and understanding as to what they have, and what they are leaving behind.

Bali Discovery did an interview with Alex Riva, manager of Westin, Nusa Dua. Alex has lived in Bali for 4 years and some of the things he said that caught my eye included, his answer to a question about Bali’s selling points. He mentioned combination of incentive-class accommodation standards, value for money, year around favorable climate, genuine hospitality, variety of activities, diversity of the natural elements, as key points.

Regarding Bali’s economic recovery, he said that he is still optimistic about Bali, and that people will eventually come back. He mentioned that the private sector has to push hard in order for the Department of Tourism to start a proper marketing campaign overeseas.

Its interesting that most of the advertising that Bali gets is from private companies trying to sell their inventory, not the government. Look at Manado in Sulawesi. That place is very popular with French people, because of the marketing French diving operators do back in France.

Nice to hear from a high ranking hotel guy that the future is bright.
