Indonesia’s currency, the rupiah was stronger against the US dollar on Friday. The rupiah was buying / selling at 9,195 / 9,205 to the dollar, compared with Thursday’s level of 9,230 / 9,240.

For Aussies visiting Bali right now you will get 6,767.56rp for AU$1 according to XE.com’s currency converter. Not being an economist I have ctually no idea why the rupiah gained. The Jakarta Post repoerted that Standard & Poor reassessed the rupiah from ’stable’ to ‘positive’, probably giving investors courage.

Despite the gain of value, a foriegn tourists can still live like kings when they come to Bali. I’ve noticed that there are hotel deals right now, if you check out the year round prices.
