Golf is popular with Jakarta residents, the ones who are not starving that is. There are 43 golf courses on the outskirts of Jakarta, which 99% of the locals will never get to use. That’s capitalism in action, glad to be rich baby!
The Indonesian Open is in full swing with Thongchai Jaidee (Thailand) and Simon Dyson (UK) sharing the lead, with 4 under 68’s. The competition is being held at the Emeralda Golf and Country Club. Bali has a couple of courses too, one in Nusa Dua and another in the mountians near Bedugal.

Actually, most of the people that play are local. Golf in Indonesia isn’t really expensive, in Jakarta you can play a round of golf for less than 15 bucks most of the times.
