Here is a recent article about corruption at Ngurah Rai airport in Bali.
Apparently uniformed officers have been asking arriving tourists for money…heavens! Its only happened to me about every other time I pass through the airport. One guy told me “next time put it in the passport.”
Very surprising the boss had no idea what was going on.
I’ll be sure to take down the officer’s name and photograph myself handing over the 50,000rp next time.

Oh, just love it
(you have present for meeeeeeeeee?)
Doesn’t matter which country I’m departing from on my way to NGR airport. I always intentionally ensure to have an extra 5-10$ in my pocket when landing for the b-line through customs. This is one of the best parts of bali!
What a scandal! ![]()
Nick quite a concern really. I just wonderif some terrorist intent on causing derstuction could just amble up with a bag of Semtex
Custome Officer - “What have you in Bag”
Potential Terrorist - ” oh just a bag of Semtex, not much else really”
Custom Officer - ” You pay extra for this i afraid or you no take in ”
Potential Terrorist - ” How much do YOU
want”
Custom Officer - ” Please 100$ in Passport and you ok sir please”
Alarming folks eh, all because of a bit of corruption. I have nothing against someone making a quick $ folks but there has to be some sort of limits and checks in place these days…Jeeees wonders never cease me..
Smiling …
