Over the last week the news of the destruction from hurricane Katrina has been the focus point of much of the world's media. I have been checking the BBC website for news and actually was checking the storm-track on the Weather Channel before it hit. Some people seemed to miss to it, even those in government, but in the internet age even here in Bali Indonesia I could tell it wasn't going be pretty.
This evening I bumped into Bo and Katrina from the US who I played pool with last week. They are on a yearlong RTW trip looking to relocate somewhere. Bo told me he wasn't aware there was a disaster until someone told him yesterday. I did my best to fill him in and he was quite surprised. America is a big diverse country and although he's not from the South, it's still a major emergency in his country.
Let's hope things get better.

Just think about it, a major city in the United States has to be completely evacuated for months on end, if not years.
I wouldn’t have thought it possible unless there was a major ‘dirty bomb’ or some other terrorist effort.
Everybody here are saying that it was the biggest natural disaster in the US. I have to agree. I live 3 blocks away behind one of the Levee/Dike’s breach in New Orleans that everyone saw on the news. Our apartment is on the second floor so we are spared from the flooding water. But I lost something worth even more than my apartment: My Job. I’m affraid thousands of people who have not been affected by the force of the hurricane or the flood of the water will become victims as well because they have jobs or businesses in the area that will be out commission for many weeks if not months.
